Lanning was a senior. He didn’t have much of a choice. It was either change positions or end his career as a backup.

I am hoping that Re-al can make something happen at Temple. Sounds like they are not a great team and that they were very short handed in the game he played in.
I think I worded my question really crappy. Obviously we had Lanning and Kyle do it effectively but Lanning only ran the ball except for that one throw. Most of the time in a dual QB situation you have one that just runs the ball in short yardage situations or occasionally throws the ball but it’s rare. Re-al had 8 pass attempts yesterday. Is there a situation where two qbs who are about equally as likely to throw?
I am surprised he was eligible to play this year. Must have received a waiver to not have to sit a year.
As far as whether he was a good teammate, I never heard anyone associated with the program have anything but good things to say about him. I think he just saw the writing on the wall that barring injuries, he was never going to get the opportunity to start at ISU. Remember he was very highly touted as a QB out of HS, so why wouldn't he want to try and achieve that dream? You have to look no further than Kurt Warner to see that not every talented guy gets the opportunity they probably deserve in college. How many D1 coaches took a pas on him?

You're correct, I am assuming. All of this is my opinion. I could totally be wrong and that's okay if I am. It's all hypothetical stuff anyways.
Would be interesting to know who we used his scholarship on. Maybe it was a trade up. I also understand chasing a dream but would have to think his chances at a professional career is at another position, in my opinion. Already forgot the name of the player that went to Ohio and switched positions there. Didnt he make an NFL roster?
Not going to lookup the points scored those years but ISU played both Wayne Stanley and Buddy Hardeman at QB in 1973-76. Hardeman was a running QB.
Remember Hardeman running down the sidelines versus OSU and on his way to a long TD run. Cowbody offensive lineman came off the bench and clotheslined him. Ugly. Refs conferred and awarded him a TD.
We could potentially be a better team if Re-al could have envisioned an expanded role as a pass-catcher or other skill position player. I understood what you were trying to say... The rest of these hyper literal morons though....
If Lanning didn't get the LB spot and more time on the field he was likely transferring.
I hate saying this, but Lanning would have been a perfect QB fit at K-State with Snyder.
