Love the way this staff recruits- they do a great job of filling immediate needs and building for the future. By adding the two JUCO's that means Bailey and Johnson don't have to play before ready and I would expect the staff to add 1 or 2 HS DT's.

Iowa state always gets offensive and defensive juco commits that are always supposed to be great yet finish 3-9 consistently.

Obviously I am an Iowa fan, but I cheer for Iowa State when they aren't playing Iowa. No disrespect meant to anyone. I am just trying to have a conversation on a message board with the opposite fanbase.

What changed from when you first started posting here?

Well, two or four players don't automatically change 3 wins into 6+. However, a coaching change (along with those 2 or 4 guys) can certainly help.

Not sure I would use the word "always", but over the last 2-3 year's ISU has recruited JUCO's more, but Rhoads probably went that direction too late to save his job.

There is a new coach and I think he brings a new mentality to the Cyclone Football program and reason for optimism. If we can't be optimistic about the future- we shouldn't be fans of our school. Right now Campbell is undefeated at ISU:)

In the end, it isn't about a handful of recruits that will make a difference, but the class in entirety. If you look at this years class in is mostly, 3 star kids. In past years it was a 50/50 mix of 2 & 3 star kids. So there is reason for Cyclone fans to feel Coach Campbell will get turned around. In the end, at schools like Iowa and Iowa State, its about hiring a coach who can develop recruits.

These appear to be great additions, and at a position of desperate need, so yes I'm excited they committed to ISU.

However, the one poster that said we've always said this and we still win about 3 games a year is dead right.

My hope is that this new coaching staff has a better eye for talent. That's all I can hold out hope for at this point. If it were still Rhoads at the helm I'd be very hesitant to be as excited about these two DTs.

2 defensive tackles at the same time.

This. We had been getting 3-5 under Rhoads. That number needs to be 10-15. We're a lot closer in 2017.

What's the word on these guys in terms of prestige? More, less, or equally highly touted as Tucker?

Edit: they are both bigger, which I like
