Quick note regarding the use of old lenses, Pentax works really well for this because they build the image stabilization into the body. Nikon and Canon both put IS in the lenses so using their old lenses isn't as attractive.

I really like all of yours, but this one is my favorite. It's very serene, and the lighting is amazing. It's just lovely.

I totally agree with this - the IS is in my lens, and it's awkward. Waaay back in high school, I was the yearbook editor and loved our film Pentax at school, so my parents got me one for Christmas. I wish I knew where that was.

My Photography Story!
My wife and I both took up the hobby about 5 years ago.
Neither of us knew anything, except point and shoot on full automatic mode.
We bought a decent DSLR and was invited by a friend to join the North Iowa Camera Club.
I cannot stress enough, how important that was to both of us stepping up our game, and learning how to use our equipment.
It has also been kind of expensive, as our confidence and knowledge grew, so did our lust for better gear. LOL!
We are both still amateurs, with LOTS of room for improvement, but we are a lot better than we were 5 years ago, and are both comfortable shooting full manual mode.
I gravitate more towards wildlife, My wife shoots everything, and has become quite good. (She is beginning to get paid for her photography skills) and she has been recognized locally for her unique photography talents.
Here are a few more of my pics.

Those are just awesome. The fox and the amusement park are my favorites, but they're all great. The fox just makes me smile.

Re: Photography Opinions Requested

I'm taking an intermediate class at Reiman Gardens last week and this week. My most recent assignment is to put the camera into manual mode and take two photos. Basically, we're supposed to either take one with high aperture and adjust ISO/shutter speed accordingly, then switch to low aperture and do the same; or you can use shutter speed as your starting point, and adjust ISO and f-stop to adjust. (In laymen's terms that means either one photo with a blurry background and one with a sharp background; or one that allows blurred motion and one that stops motion.

I'd love input on these, I need to submit one pair tonight and don't know what to use:

Pair 1 (butterfly):

So have you decided which you'll go with?

I ended up just taking all of them. :P The butterflies, a bee one I forgot to put on here, and a photo of my daughter all were the biggest hits!

some of my personal favorites over the past few years.

So, part of my homework for tomorrow night's class is to do a study in depth of field. We can either change aperture, lens length, or our physical distance from the subject to change our depth of field. But basically to do the same shot twice.

These are my two photos - I don't know if they're any good, or if I should find something else?
