Anyone still here? Any new photos to share?

I got some shots today, but am not sure I have anything here. Any input would be welcomed.

I love the texture, that's great!

Angie, I really like that first one. The lighting is fantastic. Any idea what kind of flower that is?

You are awesome, thank you! I wish I knew what kind it is - I really need to learn more about flowers. I haven't touched any of these in Lightroom yet (other than to crop the square one), so I'm not sure if I need to clean it up a little. I tend to not like overprocessed photos, so I don't want to do much...

I have just gotten into this as a hobby. Still learning...

Hey, guys! Anyone been out with their cameras lately? Any new photos to share?

I'm pumped - I've been asked to photograph a couple of events (one for pay, and two big benefits as a volunteer), so it's been sort of fun doing that.

A buddy of mine runs a "photo challenge of the week" in which I take part - here are a few from that:

Bump for anyone taking summer shots! I'd love to revive this thread, we've got some real talent here. As you can tell from what I'm posting - they DEFINITELY do not need to be your best shots!

I was out at McFarland Park taking photos for a one-year cake smash session on Sunday (I started a side photography business), and was doing some scouting of the wildlife beforehand. It's amazing how close you can get to the insects and flora:

I was thinking of bumping this the other day but didn't have any pictures. All I have done is scan and edit old family photos. Think I got carpal tunnel from all of the minute corrections of dozens and dozens of "dust" and specks! And creases, tears and folds....ack. Might post one of the end results when I get back home.

Had to remind myself a couple of time that some of the 2x3 photos were taken 80 years ago and probably with a Kodak type box camera and still best edited for viewing at close to the original contact print size.

And zooming in on a scan of some that were "colorized" and you can see the color pencil marks. :)

I would love to see it! It's so interesting to see old-time photography.

I thought I'd be the last person taking pictures of babies but that's the way things worked out....

I love baby photos. :) You get to see pure innocence and emotion on their faces.

These are adorable!

Work in progress. The baby in this portrait is my mother. Man, some stern expressions in 1923! The girls white dresses were really washed out in the photo I scanned. Still need to try and maybe mask those and adjust more when I have the time and patience to practice on it some. As is, looks better than the original for sure. I also need a better monitor that isn't so damn sensitive to viewing angle so I can better judge the what-others-see for these if posted.

This looks great for 1923. The dress looks tannish to me

Boxster, that's a really cool shot! How are you scanning them in? Do you work them over in any software?

I'm not kidding. When I first replied, the picture I saw was a 5-7 yo girl leaning on a wooden fence. Definitely more modern, had some modern structures in the back. I was really confused. It was a tan dress with white polka dots and white tights underneath. I don't know why I had that instead of this.

Kenai River, Alaska

That looks like a postcard! Gorgeous!

I went on a day cruise one time in Kenai Fjords. It was in October, so there was no green anywhere - but it was lovely.

Boxster, that's a really cool shot! How are you scanning them in? Do you work them over in any software?

I have an old HP ScanJet 6200C with some Vuescan software to run it. It's old and the original HP software won't even run on a 64 bit computer. It's a decent scanner, just really old and am probably going to get a new Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner. Have used my sisters and it's pretty fast and can do slides. It's good quality and much faster processing the scan than my old vintage HP.

I have been used the free software GIMP to edit. It's sort of an open source poor man's clone of Photoshop. The old photos need LOTS of zoomed in cleanup with clone tool and similar touchup tools. Literally hundreds of little cleanups on some of the photos (if they are cool and worth it, not going to do that with ALL of them.).
