Venting/asking for advice time...

When it comes to watching our kids our families are very different. MrxWx family if they are not busy (and sometimes when they are) will gladly watch them even at our house so they can be at home. My parents on the other hand seem to find every excuse/reason why they can't or are unavailable to watch them.

For instance tomorrow MrxWx's family is moving so they can't watch the kids and my mom was going to go to the game so we have no one to watch the kids. Fine MrsWx will stay home. This morning my mom decides not to go to the game due to the cold and fully knowing that she can watch the kids (we would have even take them to their house for the day) but instead she texts and says that she can watch them but not until 1 so she can run errands (errands that would not have been run at that time if she went to the game) and wants them at her house at that time so she can get stuff done (again stuff that would not have been done at that time had she gone to the game).

1. We can't get to the game on time leaving at 1
2. We have already told them our other baby sitters the kids are comfortable with are busy
3. 1ish is begining of nap time

This is not a one time thing. It just really irritates me that we give them every opportunity to be involved with our kids and they seem to want to constrain it as much as possible. Another frustration is MrsWx is going back to school for nursing starting in January. My parents have made it clear that my mom could retire and make the same amount or more on IPERS right now. So I asked my mom if she would retire (always complains about her job) and watch the kids a day or two a week. "No". Meanwhile my MIL is moving her part time job schedule around to help watch the kids while MrsWx is in class.

Am I wrong for being very irritated?
Sounds like she's a peach of a woman. Are your kids hard to handle?

So can anyone give me an update on conditions in southern MN and northern and central Iowa? I can't leave until after 1:30 so I should have about an extra hour to still make the game tonight but I have no idea how bad the roads are. The Twin Cities are terrible but I don't know how bad they are south of here.

Any insight would be helpful since I need to decide if I risk buying a couple of tickets for the game before we leave.
Don't like hearing about the Twin Cities. Wifey-poo and I are headed there in a couple hours to visit my daughter. As an aside, she is supposedly making dinner for us. Truth be known, I've never eaten her food or even seen her in the kitchen, so adventure here we come!

As far as sleeping kids, my middle daughter (Twin Cities) used to sleep restlessly as a small child. About 3 am she'd have rolled around enough to uncover herself and start crying because she was cold. Every night. Finally, by the time she was maybe 4 years old, she stopped. But guess who, 23 years later, still wakes up at 3 am?

I never "got" The Breakfast Club. I guess not growing up in the United States has something to do with that. We never had any of those cliques or archetypes at school.

What makes the film so endearing for Americans is so many people can relate their high school experiences to it. I can completely understand why you wouldn't relate to it.

Surprise. At MBB in my media capacity. Went looking for a certain member of RTT, who wasn't in her seat yet. *harumph*

If it's me...I'm home. Lew's on his way. I came down with a cold, and I elected to pass on the game tonight and the one tomorrow. I want to get over this QUICK before we leave for Maui next weekend.

Hey everybody, (except KC) I’m here in Hilton. We’re in my parents’ seats again so nice view of the bench. Sometimes Iwish I could read lips better Most games we’ll be in our own seats in 233.

The cookies barbque guy is still kind of creeping me out from watching the Iowa high school football last night. I did like the Farm Bureau spokesperson interviewer though.

I'm determined to come find you & say howdy on Monday if I'm feeling better. Hey, you don't know anyone who could use a C4 parking pass for tomorrow's football game, do you? Lew has it with him at the game. The guy using our tickets lives 2 blocks from the stadium; he doesn't need it.

Not right off. One of our regulars is gone but she gave her pass to another in our group. Others either have a pass for tomorrow or are riding with someone. I’ll text one who might know if a friend could use it.

I take that back. I just asked and I do know someone who could use it.
