Venting/asking for advice time...

When it comes to watching our kids our families are very different. MrxWx family if they are not busy (and sometimes when they are) will gladly watch them even at our house so they can be at home. My parents on the other hand seem to find every excuse/reason why they can't or are unavailable to watch them.

For instance tomorrow MrxWx's family is moving so they can't watch the kids and my mom was going to go to the game so we have no one to watch the kids. Fine MrsWx will stay home. This morning my mom decides not to go to the game due to the cold and fully knowing that she can watch the kids (we would have even take them to their house for the day) but instead she texts and says that she can watch them but not until 1 so she can run errands (errands that would not have been run at that time if she went to the game) and wants them at her house at that time so she can get stuff done (again stuff that would not have been done at that time had she gone to the game).

1. We can't get to the game on time leaving at 1
2. We have already told them our other baby sitters the kids are comfortable with are busy
3. 1ish is begining of nap time

This is not a one time thing. It just really irritates me that we give them every opportunity to be involved with our kids and they seem to want to constrain it as much as possible. Another frustration is MrsWx is going back to school for nursing starting in January. My parents have made it clear that my mom could retire and make the same amount or more on IPERS right now. So I asked my mom if she would retire (always complains about her job) and watch the kids a day or two a week. "No". Meanwhile my MIL is moving her part time job schedule around to help watch the kids while MrsWx is in class.

Am I wrong for being very irritated?

Maybe my opinion doesn’t matter because I don’t have kids, or maybe it’s more valuable because it’s more unbiased, but if they’re watching your kids (for what I assume is either free or a very minimal cost) you can’t reall ***** about when they do or don’t or how they watch them.

Edit: didn’t mean to pile on, didn’t see how many responses you got before I responded.

Now to switch from football mode to date mode. That football game didn't help lower my blood pressure any.

So I'd love to know which local ABC employee had the bright idea to broadcast the local news over instead of the end of the Oklahoma - Oklahoma State game

Lived in Sconnnie pretty much preinternet day. Lots of weekend you were doing good to find the game score in the sport section of the Twin Cities papers. Once in a blue moon it would end up in the Eau Claire paper (usually only when playing a B10 team.

Loooong day at work, but got to end it by going to a friends B-day supper. It was fun and a nice time.

It's all good. We just get frustrated when they complain/make comments that they haven't seen the kids in a while but then don't take opportunities to be with them. Compared to my in-laws that will rearrange schedules to be with them. Just different strokes/priories for different folks.

Game was cold but not worse than WVU 2012. IMO the refs lost control and although it isn't their fault they should share some of the blame. Especially 31 continued to taunt and jaw to our sideline after being pushed back by a ref and the ref didn't do anything. Guess who was involved again two plays later.

You made it to the game? Nice!

Dad and I went. MrsWx stayed back with the kids and mom apparently showed up for dinner.

Need to do a lot of outside work tomorrow. Planning to mow one last time, clean the gutters out, put up Christmas lights while it is warmish and try and clean some mildew stuff off of the siding. We also inherited a pool table from my in-laws in their downsize move to a condo and are painting it's base/legs things so I want to finish that too.
