Hey, has anyone gotten their BB tix yet? I have not, and the first game is in early November.

So yesterday I thought I'd better unhook the hoses from the outside faucets, since they were talking about frost. I got one off just fine, but the other is absolutely frozen. I even had my big slip-joint pliers, I strained against it, but finally quit because I was afraid I might break the pipe connection.

Anyone have a tip for getting the connection loose? (I thought about heat, but I don't think that would help much.) Is there a product to spray on that helps loosen frozen pipe connections?

Try some WD40/JB80 type product spray it on let is sit for a bit try it if it doesn't give spray some more and let it sit longer. Spray it from every direction and hope it seeps in. I like JB80 the best.

No sign of mine yet. But that subject always ticks me off. Back when I first got tickets you paid Sept. 1st, now they've got backed all the way up into July. And the parking gets crappier every yr. If you can get there early enough or after the tip there is plenty of parking, but leaving those huge swaths of empty lots torques me every time.

Pondering.

Maybe I should take the hose off the front faucet?

Why is my neighbors sprinkler system running this morning? Again. It was running yesterday to and the day before that. I get that he sodded but good grief it RAINS EVERYDAY! It's grass, not rice you're growing and it ain't August heat here, it's mostly in the 40's this month.

Got cold last night, maybe he didn't want his lawn to freeze yet. Sounds odd, but running your sprinkler is like letting your facet run in the old farm houses. Letting a little water run will get it just warm enough not to freeze.

You've probably been banned but with their notoriously poor communications they just haven't told you yet. Yup, going with that.

Speaking of communications, the Gopher keep pestering me to buy WBB tickets. Guess I am a big thing with Lindsey.

Have I mentioned how much I think our Athletic Departments communications suck? Oh, I have? Will probably do it again to.

Yesterday it cleared up for the first time in a week. We have seen sun about 4 days in the last month and I saw automatic sprinklers running at some commercial establishments. There's been no reason to use a sprinkler around here since the last week of August

Usually, if you have drained the water out of the hose, you're OK. But I hate taking chances - I had a rupture once on an exterior faucet, and it wasn't pretty.

Especially when you're at work all day.

******* yuge waste of water. Just turn the damn things off. Hell they are 100X easier to program or operate than some of the new home entertainment receiver remotes.

Honey whisky is my go-to on the rare occasion I drink hard alcohol.

Also, ham and bean soup is my favorite winter meal but a very close second is chili and cinnamon rolls.

This did remind me to unhook our hose...will have to do that after work. Late winter/early spring this year we had ice dams form along the whole back of the house. There are gutter guards there and my theory is that those were frozen over and there was just nowhere else for the water to go than just sit there and freeze. Got some of those salt pucks or whatever and put a bunch of those all over the ice and roof which worked with moderate success and some help from the sun.
If it happens again though I will probably spring for some heat rope.

Honey Whiskey makes me vomit. It's so like "thick" and sweet.

Bean soup with the leftover ham and ham bone from Christmas was always a classic. My father perfected a midwestern chili recipe that won a couple contests in Ohio. 5 different kinds of meats and 3 different kinds of beans plus tomatoes, onions etc. I'm make it every year myself, I don't have the finesse he did but it reminds me of him.

Chili and cinnamon rolls were the best lunch in school. Unfortunately that will never be offered again. Thanks Michelle Obama.

I had my sprinkler lines blown out already. I suppose it's best if I don't run them anymore this year.
