2015 so how did the trip to Hudson turn out?

Hudson was good but I would call it a central St.Croix River trip at this point.

Thursday we hung out in Hudson most of the day before our AirBnB check in. It's a quiet cute little town. Our AirBnB hosts turned out to be a former hall of fame athlete and his wife. I won't say the sport or the years they played but this house was awesome and they basically built an apartment over their garage area and that's where we stayed. Private hot tub to boot, wish it was a touch cooler though to fully enjoy it.

Friday we got a pontoon on a lake nearby and hung out and swam on that most of the day. Top 5 places to sit is in the captain's chair of a boat, especially with a good looking gal on board! That night we hung out in Stillwater, MN which was just like Hudson but slightly bigger. Cool place though.

Today one of her friends had a bday party at a beach near Minneapolis so I was there all day and volunteered to be the DD for her and her friends so they could get white girl wasted. Got some grub near dark and she's been passed out in bed since dinner while I've caught up on the world cup games :D:D

All in all very successful trip. But I did find out late Friday that my work trip for this next week in Minneapolis was canceled (the whole reason I came up here in the first place) so I've been trying to figure that situation out so whatever.

Oh and tomorrow our plans are to stay indoors and nurse our sunburns and go to the Blue Door Pub for the best Juicy Lucy's in Minneapolis and then we have a reservation for a French restaurant in Uptown.

My new flight leaves Monday evening

Normandy?

Not a ton of French restaurants here in uptown I can think of that would need a reservation.

So, drove by Saylorville lake yesterday, and wondered this randomly . . . the people who live in the houseboats, how do they get out to do things (go shopping, go to work, etc.) when all of the boat ramps are closed?

Back the truck up. You are going to the happiest place on earth and not staying for the fun?!?!?! The museum is pretty great if you have time.
WE weren't going there at all. But apparently it's "on our route to Ohio", and our youngest son is going to be there. We have tickets for TBT, so we need to be in Ohio on that Friday.

With all of your flight miles you could have taken her to Paris. Just sayin.

Don't even get me started.... Last fall when the Browns played the Vikings in London I offered to take her there and then drive through France the week after the game.

I got VIP box seats from Marriott using points so no cost to the tickets. I was then trying to book flights using my airline miles but she didn't want first class and got into a big argument how this was too serious and she ended up backing out.

So then I added 2 weeks onto my vacation and went to Japan for 13 days before going to London for 3 days and then drove from Nice to Monaco to Lyon to Paris backroads style for 7 days. Met tons of cool people in all 3 countries. I sold my extra ticket to a guy from the Cleveland Browns fan club in London for a pint of beer. Great guy, he works in IT too.

Solo traveling has a certain stigma to it but I found it quite amazing and already planning another solo trip somewhere.

Anyway, she's a strong independent woman and we usually split checks and costs for activities and things like that. It's just frustrating to try and explain that these miles don't do anything just sitting in an account and I'm not trying to be all patriarchal about it. Ah well.

The backroad road trip through France sounds cool. Hell, I'd probably be more than happy (especially at my age) to pay the way for a gal friend to travel with me even if she was just a friend. Double occupancy pricing on lodging drives the price for one equal to the price for two anyway (looking at you ISU alumni travel and Viking tours) so other than airfare it's a push. If you have travel miles to use it's a no brainer.

Agree on the solo traveler stigma thingie. It's kind of a detriment to my travel. Single women of any age can travel with their girlfriends and do ALL of the time. Gay guys (attached and unattached) always seem to have a group they can travel with. Straight over 60 males, not so much. Last year in Mexico and I'll bet I was the only person in the entire resort that rented a single room for one. Travel alone and you are viewed as odd. JFC, I got questioned with suspicion a couple of years ago at US customs because "traveling alone."

PS: Gal my age, not dragging some gal around that I have to tell people is my "niece" or something.

Solo travel is the superior type of travel. The only downside is you have to work harder if you want to get some action, as opposed to the almost layup guarantee you get by traveling with a partner.
