I wondered how the tournament went. Thanks for updating, was it all softball or did you and DD take some vacation/sightseeing days also?
We spent the first two days of the trip in Denver, and then visited Rocky Mountain National Park on our off-day during the tournament.

All I can say about that is I was moved nearly to tears. Bar none, the best experience of my life, just seeing the wonder in my daughter's eyes and hearing the excitement in her voice as we drove through the mountain pass between Loveland and Estes Park. Wonderful memories I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

Thanks! Staying with the Blitz then? It's a good program, from all I can tell, so it sounds like a good decision.
I really do wish we could move there and have DD play at the HS. I was reminded of this when we stopped off in Davenport on the way home for Happy Joe's pizza and Whitey's ice cream. There were some young ladies wearing blue Ankeny uniforms in line at Whitey's.
This heat wave has been Hell on catchers, I feel terrible for them. It was 105 on the hottest day in Colorado, and then we drove east and got to experience the same heat wave again here, this time with 2x the humidity. Our poor catcher was about dead. I didn't like the coach having her catch every game, although I know why-- the backup catcher has problems with strikes bouncing off her mitt, much less low or wild pitches. Still, the health of the girl is more important imo.

Fortunately SS handles the heat better than her pitchers. ;) We have 3 very young ones and on a good day each can have a good 4 innings but you never know which one that will be. They played 2 games last Friday in the metro and SS didn’t even take out her cooling towel. She did go out the last couple of innings but only because they switched to their main JV pitcher and they had already decided if they had to put her in, they would put in the JV catcher. Her pitchers also work her harder than a catcher should have to work, but she takes it game after game.

Ugh, autocorrected dd to SS and no edit option.

There was a brawl at the ellis fireworks here in Crapids and I guess a bunch of my former kids were involved. Disappointing.
