Also I landed in Oakland and my hotel is a bit outside of it. Anyway my hotel is having this huge ornate Indian wedding over the next few days and I'm one of the few guests that isn't a part of it. Everyone looks incredible and the place is popping as hell.

This will be a good couple days

Was in MC this afternoon at my sisters. That wasnt you riding east on highway 18 in the west lanes was it. Made it interesting. Out by BWW.

Naw 18 is way to busy your just asking to get hit out there. This was down in the condos between CL and Ventura in the 25 mph zones.

That is the area where the local car dealer was with his wife and maybe family, but a guy mad at bicyclists bumped his wife off the road after he circled back. Some crazies in that area.

That is embarrassing at the mecum auction. Needed 10,500 to get reserve off. Guy bids it, then his wife says he can’t and they play it out on TV. She wins and car stops at 10k so it doesn’t sell.

I've only been to a couple auctions and they weren't in that price range but sometimes the owner can cut a deal with the bidder that was close but didn't hit the reserve. Did that happen?

Not sure, this woman did not want her husband buying that car. It’s supposed to be the first day of the Denver sale. That’s the cheaper ones.

Had some old 87 blazer come through that they had to rebid, because the one with the high bid thought he was bidding on something else. Think it went for 5k, I wouldn’t want it.

A few 70 novas that were nice, but some really non desirables in this one. Although these are ones to buy for drivers so it is a little interesting.

This auction kinda sucks. Most of the time the cheap day has some cool stuff that is appealing cause you can go "Well, hell, I could afford that one!" This is mostly stuff you'd see at a lot here in Mpls plus some older, but nothing special, Camaros and Mustangs. Boring.

Edit: The '63 T-Bird just went for only $5K. That was the first cool thing I've seen since flipping over after the Yankee game.

Some of the pictures and videos in the ark thread remind me of the flood of 93. One night I was up trying to watch TV and it sounded like it just started pouring. I had an open window so I figured I better close it. I realized there was no rain coming in the window and then saw that it wasn't the sound of rain but my street turning into a raging river. I didn't even live by a river or creek. Just a drainage ditch.

Just looked at my calf. Have a 4-5 inch long cut on my calf. Don’t remember it happening but it drew some blood and everything. Did I start sleep walking.

Wedding update, the female seems like she is from an extremely wealthy family and the male side is from humble beginnings. Which is kinda romantic I guess.

Not sure of protocols for Indian weddings but all the women left at nearly the same time and it's a sausage fest at the bar now

Don’t know if the cast system is still in effect over there or if it carries over to here or not. If it’s mostly all Indian people there, would guess they follow typical traditions just out of experience.

Now all the dudes left before 10pm. There's gotta be some sort of system or something.

But basically I'm alone at the bar now.

So the bride's family owns a lot of hotels in California including the one I'm at. This massive family has 3 weddings a year and they're always at this hotel.

I like when people try to explain how something works to me when I designed and wrote it.

When I realize I’m in a situation where someone is trying to explain something from my focus to me who has only brief knowledge, I just play dumb and see how far they will go.

Reminds me of this random guy that was trying to explain this way to deploy apps with our product. This specific way isn't necessarily supported but it works.

We were scoping out a project and he started like "I heard of this guy that did XYZ to do it for customer X" and then I couldn't stop laughing and told him "that's literally ******* me man. I did that and figured it out".

Top 5 experiences at work. I felt really proud even though I wasn't specifically named.
