Is this because the In-laws are in town?
That is what I told my husband—my way of getting through. Ha! They are not necessarily big drinkers but was expecting FIL to have more than one beer last night. He has about 18 more to go. . .

Hitting the road in the morning with DD to drive to Greeley, CO for softball. It's our first time going to Colorado. Going I-80 all the way. We had both agreed initially that we would stop in Council Bluffs to spend the night, and finish the drive Sunday. (Neither of us wants to spend more time than necessary in kNebraska.)
We've both relented though, and we're going to drive as far as we can Saturday before stopping, even if that means we spend the night in kNebraska. Ugh.
So-- big question. Are there any restaurants along I-80 that would make that town a good place to stop? She's going to check Food Network today for the types of places that make it on to their shows like DDD.
The current term is lockdown drill. It'll be something softer in a year or two.I'm trying to remember-- are school desks tornado-proof also? Or did we all go and kneel up against one of the walls during drills?
I'm guessing they've replaced the nuclear attack drills with active shooter drills these days?![]()
Well.......I don’t know if i should say thanks or not thanks to west bend for flipping the order of games last night, but I got to seee my daughters game last night while sitting in the rain.

We tried to do varsity only at 8pm but the fields were just too wet. Can you run down to GHV and check the fields there for us? Although the girls already left for their trip to Clear Lake. If games are cancelled tomorrow they just had a fun night in CL/Mason City.
Yes, but this is without the "spiritual" enhancement. This almost happened to me once at a Who concert.
As I recall from my NBC (nuclear-biological-chemical) training in Basic, if you've got your MOPP (mission oriented protective posture) gear with you, get to MOPP-4 immediately. Otherwise immediately drop to the ground, lay prone facing in the direction of the blast, and close your eyes.
Apparently if you face away from the blast, there's a good chance of the force wave taking your head off with it when it reaches you.
It's all fuzzy though, I'm remembering things from one training session ~20 years ago.
Is that for The Sparkler?
I have not been west of Omaha since I was a kid so can’t help you out much. Hubby’s uncle used to run the restaurant off the North Platte airport but that was years ago.
Worst hotel I've ever stayed in is The RelaxInn in Vicksburg, Mississippi. There are some decent Super 8 hotels out there. The one in York should be burned to the ground. I am really surprised Super 8 lets them keep the name. Quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
I hate to say anything nice about either Kansas or Nebraska but Eastern Colorado might be even worse.Been through both and yes Kansas is a drag. North Dakota isn't quite as bad, still I'd travel through either of those happily before I'd go through Nebraska.
A job I want to apply for this weekend extended their deadline. Excellent.
Only excellent because this one, unlike the other, did it before receiving stuff from me.
I lot of stuff around here is named after Pierre Bottineau but I've never known what he did. I googled it and it said he's the Kit Carson of the Northwest. Now I have to google Kit Carson.Speaking of North Dakota, saw a job listing in Bottineau, ND pop up.
That is easily the most remote one yet. That place is a long way from anything and anywhere, even in 2 nations.
I applied for one that’s perfect. Great pay, 9-5 Mon-Fri gig in San Diego. They reviewed my app, put it under “in considration, two representatives have viewed my LinkedIn profile, haven’t heard a peep for two weeks now.
Yep. Sparkler Junior, 14U Open Division. We're not good enough for the Power Pools.![]()
Actually........yes I can. We play in Belmond tonight so we will be going about 1/2 from them. The softball field is in a "hole" so that does not lend itself to a positive.
A "fun" night in MC? Well, they should be o.k., they just had a shooting last night, so they usually wait a couple days for another.
I know the chief of police there, hopefully they will be okay. They will most hang out at the hotel, they chose BWW for dinner. Yum? Going to the OP for lunch tomorrow.
