A cwm is a mountaineering term (or at least that is where I learned it) for a cirque, or a mountain basin. I think it might be Welsh, which would make sense, with their penchant for consonants.
Never heard it before....but Welsh sounds about right; they like to have one vowel for every 12 consonants. My father's middle name is Welsh; 4 l's, 1 y, and 2 e's: Llewellyn. Too many vowels! :D

Hey, I'm reading a book right now, and that is the protagonist's name! No Country For Old Men.
And neither of us noticed I forgot to count the w. :D

We spent a day in Wales about 20 years ago. I've never seen so many unpronounceable words in my life. Street signs, stores, products...wow! The town we went to started with a C, and had about forty letters, but when pronounced was only 2-3 syllables. I gave up after that.

I love meetings with no agenda. And then start late because they're doing another convo first. Cool. Not like my mom had to get up at 5:30 to drive up here and I had to get up early and juggle baby with DH to be at my computer on time. Totally cool. Thankfully I'm at home.

Welcome back to work!

I've read several of Cormac McCarthy's novels - he's not easy to read. I read Blood Meridian and The Road. He creates some pretty intricate prose.
I kind of like his style of not using quotation marks during conversations between characters. The book itself is very good, so far -- seems to follow the movie fairly closely, but involves the characters' thought processes, which I like. I read "The Road" a couple times, as well as watched the movie. Very good, very dark.

If there's one thing I learned from the movie "The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain" it is that everybody in Wales has the last name of Jones.

I will give up corn on the cob. I will also give up celibacy if the wife lets me.

Already gave up corn on the cob when Byerly's stopped putting any out last week. Think I ate more corn on the cob this summer than any other year of my life.

This was very not Chaser-like. Was online checking delivery status of Onkyo receiver I ordered and the doorbell rings and it's UPS with the receiver. ;)

And nicely packed with a heavy blue plastic shrinkwrap that would protect it if it was left out in the elements. Impressed but Crutchfield is an ace kinda vendor.
