If you flew would you have someone to pick you up or would you have to Uber to get around? That would be an additional expense. Me personally I would drive but I like driving. It's about 700 miles from Ames so about a 10-11 hour drive probably a bit more to eat along the way. Depending on the mileage you get Boxster's estimate of about $200 for the road trip sounds pretty close.
I'm visiting my sister. I honestly don't trust my car to get me there and back so I'm going to fly.

Need some help everyone, the gf is a bad snorer. It has really picked up the last 10 days or so since we moved. It's getting to the point where she is snoring within minutes of going to sleep. It takes me forever to get to sleep and on top of it, I'm a light sleeper.

Anyone have any tips to help with this problem? I'm not able to sleep anyway, so any tips would be appreciated right now.

No advice, just boo this. I am a crazy light sleeper and for me this would be very bad indeed.

Shoveled and cleaned tended to the ice dams. Already planning at least one trip to see the Cubs although sadly that one is in St. Louis.

Careful with ice dams, @wxman1. If you try to bust them up and get them off the roof, you may end up damaging the roofing underneath. Ice dams are a ***** - because the only real way to prevent them is by re-doing the roofing. One way you might stop them is to buy a roof rake and pull the snow off the roof as far back as you can, but if you have a two-story house that may not be possible.

The vixen snores, too. I use ear plugs - after awhile, you'll get used to it.

Or not.

Has she tried those breath rite nose strips? Supposedly they help. Like SCyclone said ear plugs for you. You could always cover her head with a pillow;)( I KID I I KID).

So far it is 99% contained to the gutter but it is 2-3" thick in some places on there so it may not be full on ice dam but it is still worrisome to me. Yesterday I used a broom and pulled off about 3 feet wide worth of snow off of that side of the roof and put a bunch of these ice melter tablet things both on the ice as well as on the roof. Between those, the sun and above freezing temps for highs most of the week I am hopeful that we will luck out.

LittleWx 3rd birthday party is on Saturday and I am taking him flying for the first time in the morning. We started making a list of everything we needed to get done before the party one of which was touch up some trim that between the kids and dogs was very beaten up. So I got the paint out and started doing that. Of course while doing that I noticed other chips, dents scratches etc on another color that could be touched up. Of course we got rid of all of that paint because it was in five gallon buckets and taking up space.

Get a new girlfriend?

It has crossed my mind several times... I am leaning towards it anyway
PapaLew's first response: get a new girlfriend.
This puts him on excessively thin ice as I snore.

Earplugs for you (go big & get the fitted ones for comfort).

BreatheRite strips don't work for me.
We've found that it's worse if I'm on my back, so sometimes he'll have to nudge me to get me to roll on my side.
I'm a mouth breather at night, and in the winter the air in the house can get really dry, which dries out mucous membranes & makes the snoring louder. You might try a small humidifier on her night stand - that helps us.

All of these options are better than a new girlfriend. Speaking of which, I'm going to go have a serious conversation with my husband now about his options...like couches! ;)

So I am getting a little pumped.....after our glorious win Saturday, I found out I am getting 2 tickets for tomorrow night's game against K-Boo. YES!!!! Going to take my father-in-law, a dyed in the wool Cyclone fan. He hasn't been to a game in years, he's pumped too.

Any RTT people going to be there? You will probably see me right away, I'll be the guy in glasses with not much hair, cheering wildly.

And my prediction is we will win, although that Kansas center makes me nervous. We could eat up a whole bunch of fouls on that guy.

@BCClone That "tool" reaction is not at you, but the poster you mention.

Former co-worker had a priest with HUGE thumbs. Poor guy had so much ash on his forehead on Ash Wednesday.

Husband's Lutheran cousin got married on a Friday during Lent. (Sentimental reasons/cheaper) We received the invitation, and on the response card, it had the choice of beef or chicken for the reception meal. We're Baptist, so we didn't have a problem with it, but I remembering saying "I hope [Cousin and then fiance] don't have Catholic friends." I don't know if anyone pointed it out to her, but if they did, I'm sure she at least attempted to try to have fish or a vegetarian dish for them.
We had a pastor that had giant thumbs, too. When he was through with me, I looked like I'd just cleaned a chimney!
