Random Thoughts XI (Eleven Pipers Piping)

Went to Grand Harbor in DBQ for the weekend. Not too bad overall. Still in dire need of some TLC. Saturday morning we are down there and I am standing by a wall that happens to be next to the door to the mechanical room and I notice water coming out from a crack in the wall. Thought it was odd but just kept an eye on it. After a couple of minutes a life guard walks up and asks how long that had been happening and I told her I just noticed it a couple of minutes ago. She gets her supervisor over who has a key to the door...there was water pouring all over the place in there. He gets the appropriate people there to start investigating very quickly. About that time we hear a pop and a small power flash which lead MrsWx and I to make eye contact and she immediatley got herself and LittleWx out of the water. A couple of minutes later an even bigger pop and power flash and they finally clear the place out. Somehow they got it all fixed a few hours but at least that gave us an excuse to go up to Breitbachs.

Their Cream Ale is really good. I've been disappointed in their other beers but they really got that one right.

I already knew that Hoiberg was in it. Pretty soon - hey that is kind of cool, Cato is playing for the Bucks. Then - hey that guy sure moves like Fizer. Hey that is Fizer. Of course then at the end they show the coach that we all knew was there - good ole' Tim. Four former Cyclones in an NBA game I just stumbled across.

So we had a combination 81st birthday party for my FIL and Super Bowl party yesterday. The vixen went all Barefoot Contessa on us - she made three kinds of sliders, plus Philly cheesesteaks and homemade potato chips. My contribution was jalapeno poppers (stuffed with hot sausage mixed with cream cheese, then wrapped in bacon) and some really yummy cheese and bean dip. Needless to say we were all in a food coma by halftime. I managed to survive by washing it all down with a liberal quantity of Windsor's.

Good times!!!! And I was so happy for Doug Pederson, he's gotta be the ballsiest coach in SB history. They'll be talking about that "Philly Special" play for months.

Breitbach's is awesome. We used to deer hunt with their family, Billy, Michael, Skip et al. I probably saw some of the deer shot that they have on the walls in the restaurant. Or did they lose those in the fire? Been a while.

They have some up there but I have no idea if they were the originals.
 
Shout out to dmacc for trying to kill me. My god the drive back on highway 30 was horrible. I couldn’t see 30 feet in front of me
 
If there's a family model of efficiency, it was Z and I this morning.
Had a great lunch, were cruising through our school prep time. She had time to play while I brushed off the snow, we were buckled in for school, ready to go.

Then I reached to plug in my phone like I do on that trip every day. I see a notification from her teacher that school is cancelled. Turns out it happened while we were playing/brushing off snow.

So we're inside warming up and enjoying our quiet day. For once, there was enough cold for Z to think it was (almost) enough.

LittleWx got sick last night and was up off and on sick all night. I stayed home to help a very tired MrsWx with both kids. He has not thrown up anymore so she probably would have been fine but what evs. I have my laptop and will log in to take care of a couple of things this afternoon.

Today is one of those days where I would have said "Naaaaaah, not worth it. Taking a vacation day today." And then I remember that I don't need to tell anyone I'm not going to be there. :D

However, I think PapaLew is going to pass on going down to Woodward today. At least I HOPE he is. His mom lives down there, and can't do her own snow pushing. Thing is, she doesn't need to leave the house today, so he could still do it tomorrow morning when the roads are more clear to get there. *sigh* He's a good son - we'll see what decision he makes.

Buy here a 4 wheel drive , or AWD, if she still drives and it will buy time.
 
I thought about going home today and working from home, but that 1. defeats purpose of being the receptionist and 2. I won't get any work done with Z home. : )
