I know I'm not a part of the official random thoughts family, but I wanted to share.
I'm the coach for an 8th grade club volleyball team. We're a regional team so we only play in tournaments within Iowa.
Well last weekend we played in a tournament and we beat the 8th grade national team from our same club. Embarrassing for them because they are supposed to be better than us, but really cool for my team.
Then, this weekend, we got second place in the tournament we entered. I'm really proud of my girls and would quit my current job to become a full-time coach if the salary was anywhere near comparable.

Checked to see if a full moon, not until the 31st, did see that there are a lot of people wetting themselves over this full moon coming up.

It is funny how the teams end up sometimes. One of the clubs our oldest tried out for (actually the club she had played for for 4 years) "said" they would only put girls who play softball on regional teams since nationals runs into softball season. It was an issue for us last year in 8th grade because we knew she would be playing varsity ball. We only wanted a regional team. This year for the 15/16s they said the same thing--softball girls should be on regional teams (of course there always seems to be exceptions with no reasoning). Ran into that with another club where they said their regional teams were on par with their national teams because of good multi-sport athletes. Technically we are on a national team this year (different club) but I don't know if we would go to nationals if we qualify.
We made it to the championship in our tournament, then were killed by bad line judging/reffing. Always hard when the losing semi-final team has to stick around to ref the championship--they are tired, don't want to be there. We lost the lead in the first set and lost (again, at least 4pts off bad line judging) then the girls totally fell apart in the final set.
It's a blue moon and a super moon, plus an eclipse. Don't think I'll see it, though. Way past my bedtime.

Z saw this, so I tried to explain a little about Lionel Hutz.
We talked about how he used to be half good, half bad, then went all the way.
Without using the word "lawyer," she concluded that his big problem is that he lies.

Z is talking to her mom on the phone, and I'm listening to the difference when she bargains for a toy.
When we talk, she doesn't press. She'll just mention "it's a good price. It would be great to have" for whatever reason she's rolling with.
For mom, "You need to get that and bring it home RIGHT NOW. It's on Amazon, it's at Walmart. We need it right now."
And she didn't really even want it for a moment until I looked it up. That's my gift.
When we talk, she doesn't press. She'll just mention "it's a good price. It would be great to have" for whatever reason she's rolling with.

I'm polite. Not a name caller really. Do not think it does anything but make me look bad. Besides, I avoid the cave due to the craziness in there.
Well...........miss one game and I apparently missed a lot. One kid gets a double T and booted from the game. Man, it sounds like a mad Fran thing. What really surprises me is the kid doesn’t have enough gumption to play defense let alone get crazy on the floor. He’s a sub who never plays but it was a blow out with the HC out due to the flu. I missed the excitement once again.
