Either a bad infection or cancer. Won't know more until at least tomorrow but his xray was fuzzy white where his lungs should have been.

Sadly our perfect dog passed away suddenly shortly after I posted this. All I can come up with right now to describe him is perfect. He would let kids crawl all over him and he wouldn't even lift his head. He always knew when I was upset or sad and wouldn't leave my side. Going to miss that boy a lot.

Got a text from daughter at 1:45 telling me the VB scrimmage is at 4:00 tonight. Was on the way to the land of the jolly green giant. There was no messing around on that trip. Had 3 minutes to shave and shower, they started late thankfully.

I'm so sorry, WX...

So sorry for your loss @wxman1. It sounds like he at least didn't suffer long.

Years ago, our 18 year old cat died. It's kind of like, what do you expect, right? To add insult to grief, I had taken him to the vet for his yearly 9 days before he died. Our local vet has a good vet who does livestock and rotating young vets right out of school who don't stay long who handle the pets. This pet vet said he looked great for his age. He suddenly was very listless and wouldn't eat 8 days later. I took him back to her and she chewed me out up and down for not bringing him in sooner. I told her she told me he was doing great 8 days ago. She looks at his chart and says, "Oh." No apology, nothing. So I asked to see the livestock vet and explained the cat's recent history. He said he wanted to keep him for observation.

Livestock vet calls me the next day and said he had died. Also said he wanted to do an autopsy at no cost to us given the circumstances. Results were a quick moving blood infection. I asked if he could have gotten it from a dirty needle or something when I brought him in for shots. He sighed and said, "God, I hope not."

Anyway, we now go to a different vet 10 miles away. And to make a long story even longer, wonder if they will want to autopsy your sweet angel dog. It probably doesn't matter much but you do wonder.

They are not. Sounds like it was a blood cot as a result of his infection.

I'm so sorry :( That happened so fast.

Half listening to the news (13-WHO) and Dan Winters is reading a story on U of I tuition hike (which was announced one week after the ISU tuition hike was announced). Meanwhile, the reel is showing some students standing around the building sign for Gilman, does a close up of the road sign for Morrill Rd, and show several buildings on the west side of campus that I can't name (wrong side of campus for me).

Did I mention Dan was talking about Iowa???
