You must have used all your writing skills on the UK trip updates, this was not CG quality game summary. So do you have a fun team this year?

I realized that tonight! It's harder to remember the volleyball stuff since there are so many plays and they happen so quickly. It is a fun team though, we really gelled last night. Or the other team was really bad. Or both. Bad part was I knew two of the girls on the other side from the gym. One is super nice and friendly. I felt bad that we destroyed them like 21-8 all three sets.

21-8 in all three sets? Woof. I'll give you guys credit, but that other team probably isn't very good. That's a beat-down. I've been on the wrong end of a lopsided match or two over the years, but we were still able to muster 12-15 points a time or two.

Likely the other team showed mercy, unlike CG, the Conan of Recreational Volleyball.

The two youngest share a room. The 6yr old was asking how many days until school started, so we counted on their calendar. Preschool starts a week later for the 4yr old. Let me tell you, that is going to be a LONG week.

The main school supply the 4yr old wanted was a cool lunch box. Had to burst her bubble that you don't bring lunch in preschool.

Z saw the lunch box aisle while we were shopping. I had to break it to her too. :(

She made sure to show me that her backpack lights up. Then she says, "It's ready to fight!" I had to tell her it was dangerous to swing her backpack around.

Me and my friends did play a pick-up 4x4 game at the Rec Center one time versus some guys from the club team. I am 6'2" and would have been the shortest guy on their team by a solid 2 inches. One guy spiked it over me and inside the 10 foot line, and that was when I had a really good vertical. That was the most useless I have ever felt on a volleyball court.

The same dude had the hardest jump serve I ever received. I had about a 40% return rate with a couple that I couldn't even get a hand on. He started to let up, but I told him to keep bringing it. I was not one to back down from a challenge once I got on the court. My forearms were still bruised a couple days later. I was grateful I never took a spike to the face. I'd probably look like that kid from Mask.

To their credit, they were a bunch of really cool guys. We got slaughtered, but it was still a lot of fun.

I'd have to see if they posted scores yet this morning. I know it was -10 for one and I remember thinking they weren't going to hit double digits for another. I think the first one was closer because they had one guy serving us really well.

Probably blew my shot at making better friends with gym girl, lol. They didn't seem too upset, we were all kinda laughing.

@wxman1, some A10 warthogs did a flyover for the Sporting game the other night. I was grilling outside with a cold one in my hand at the time. All I needed was an eagle to fly by carrying an American flag to complete the picture.

The older neighbor lady came flying out of her house looking like she was expecting Red Dawn II.

Your daughters youth soccer games definitely are intense.

May have underestimated fitness loss after not doing much of anything the last three/four weeks. Yelp, legs were pretty dead at mile 20 of ride today. Last six miles home after that were pretty slow, more like an actual guy my age I guess.

Just watched a brief segment on the news about Glen Campbell, who passed away today. He has an amazing body of work, and they showed a clip of him when he was awarded a grammy for lifetime achievement. It segued into him performing his signature song, Rhinestone Cowboy. The camera panned the crowd - front row, Sir Paul McCartney singing along with everyone else. Kinda cool.
Campbell was big in the late sixties, as kind of a crossover counterpoint to the hard rock bands of the era. Had his own variety show...played amazing guitar licks...RIP, Wichita Lineman.

Well, welcome back to the thread!
Thanks.

Yeah, after a year, the wife and I decided living in Nevada just wasn't working out for us. Apartment management was lackluster, the city changed the apartment numbers on the units in the complex, which made receiving our mail and packages a nightmare, and I was getting tired of coming home from work at 2 a.m. to find a half dozen people in the parking lot standing around an open trunk who would stop what they were doing until I parked and went into my apartment.

That 10-15 mile move probably wasn't too bad.

I am too young to completely appreciate him but having had a loved one with Alzheimers the song he wrote about it get's me every time.
