Was it hawkfromnorwalk? That guy is a grade A asshat.

It was JeffreyTheGreek. Making the same tired "it isn't a rivalry for us" (then why did your team play ISU fights in the locker room all week last year) and that they should drop the game and schedule a top ten team (fine go ahead but your history doesn't indicate that IA is going to schedule anyone tough).

Chaser - question for you. I have a magnolia tree that nearly died last year when my sprinklers went out during the hottest part of the summer. Basically, all the leaves appeared dead. However, we were able to bring it back to life by watering it with a hose for 30 minutes (low stream) every other day until I was able to fix my sprinklers. Now the tree has green leaves on the bottom branches and near trunk, but still has dead branches and leaves at the top 2 thirds of the tree. I would say it is 25% green. My question is: should I cut the top branches and cut down the top part of the trunk, or just the dead branches and leaves? Or is the tree pretty much going to die eventually?

But mostly dead for an ornamental tree is still as good as all dead. If the top two thirds is dead you should cut it down and plant something new.

Trees that sprout leaves towards the bottom are trying to save themselves. I don't have much experience with magnolias, but if it came back like that I think it's worth saving. Just cut the dead branches, not the trunk. It's going to look ugly. I can't guarantee this of course, but we've had luck with ash trees that were mostly dead.

Thanks! I'll give this a try.

Why I said give it the axe. I should post a pic of my magnolia just to torment GTO.

I love playing ISU. It's definitely a rivalry. Any Iowa fans that say otherwise are simply lying.

And I don't want to make the non conference schedule harder, Iowa isn't Alabama, and shouldn't schedule like they are. I want wins. And if ISU and Miami (OH) give us a better chance to do that then say Arizona State or Tennessee then that's the teams I want on the schedule.

Playing a hard schedule and losing is about as good as **** on a boar.

This is why I love you.

Just don't "pollard" it like the pruning so popular in Europe. Saw these sycamore trees on the Rhine last month. Makes me crazy when I see this and saw it everywhere over there.

What the hell is the point of even having trees?

Oh that's what's happening. I keep seeing this trees all over and had no idea what they were.

For you working stiff: after I mow the lawn I am going to go for a nice ride over to the lakes. Weather is PERFECT.

Have air conditioner repair appt on Friday. If it stays this nice I won't need dat air. When I called the gal answers "Can I put you on hold". Then when talking with me she had to interrupt to put someone else on hold. Yup, they be busy. Boxsters first rule of HVAC is that furnaces only break when it's below zero and air only poops out when it hits 90.
