Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Btw, when I decided to go to bed last night, The bed was slightly off its normal angle and the 12" gap between the bed and wifes dresser was only about 8" (wife was asleep so it was dark) and I truly think I broke my little toe going to bed. It is swollen and bruised this morning.

Still trying to decide on a name for my car - she's small, red(head), and a little feisty, so I wanted to go with Emma (Stone). Unfortunately I have a granddaughter with that name...so nope. One of my cats already shares a name with another granddaughter (cat was named by someone else)...my kids will give me way too much crap.

Something I discovered about her (the car)...the radio volume control is connected to the speedometer. I didn't realize it at first, but it's pretty clear now: when I accelerate onto the highway the volume increases (probably to counteract increased road noise?) and when I slow down or stop, the volume drops waaaaaay down.

I don't know why that amuses me, but it does! I told Lew it was doing that & he said it was my imagination. So we ran into town a couple of days ago, and now he knows I'm right. Yeah - we're old geezers. We've never had a vehicle that does that. :)

Well BC for as poorly yesterday ended, today will hopefully be better. Maybe the hygienist will be cute at the dentist.

I think Emma Stone's pretty tall anyway. How about Shirley (Temple)? Or Clyde, after the red-haired monkey in the Clint Eastwood movies.

I know that some motorcycles have that feature but there is a lot more road noise on a motorcycle. I didn't realize some cars have that feature as well.

How about Jessica (Jessie?) for Jessica Chastain. She was great in Zero Dark Thirty and The Martian.

How about Ginger? NoSoul? Daywalker?

Car name - I'll offer up the obvious: Annie

Car volume thing - my last two cars have that. We have an option to stop it from doing that, though. I'd be surprised if yours didn't. I thought I liked the speed/volume option, but I found that I hated slowing down to a stop light mid-jam and having the sound get softer. Nobody wants to air-drum to quiet music. It had to go.

I haven't been on here much in the past two weeks. What have I missed?

I'll start the list. Woo's in Germany. CG's in Jamaica (or at least on her way). KC got a new car. BDK may be posting under a new name. N-Dubs, Velo and Boxster rode their bikes an insane distance in the heat. Pants hosted a karoake party. Gr8's AC broke. Traffic sucks in Cedar Rapids. At one point, the gals had a long discussion about women's clothes and I learned what a maxi is. BC saw the Jolly Green Giant. WDSM moved into a town house (I'm assuming a residence and not a cracker). I'm sure there's more.

She's 5-6" - taller than me, but not "tall" tall. She gives off a "small person, high energy" vibe to me. Moot point, though, because I can't use the name. Too bad - it's practically a continuation of Elmer (her predecessor). Not a fan of Shirley. Clyde is male. Looking for a female name. I'm not going to bother with the other part of that error.

Took me by surprise too. Made me doubt my sanity at first! ;)

Had a dog named Jessie, and a cat named Jezzie (Jezebel). Same problem with the Emma choice. :(

I'm seriously considering Maureen. The other older types in here will surely get that reference. Definitely not small, but definitely (and defiantly) red!

Not a big fan of red hair, eh? Too bad for you!

I hated the cartoon, didn't care for any of the musical versions (if I never hear "tomorrow, tomorrow" again it will NOT break my heart). Don't think Annie is the choice for me.

I probably CAN stop it; I'm still figuring out the bells & whistles. Right now I'm more interested in figuring out how to reset the trip mileage. THERE'S NO BUTTON BY THE SPEEDOMETER!!!

And I'm just about past the point where I turn the windshield wipers on every time I shift into reverse or drive (Elmer's shift was on the column).

Also, GTO went to Washington state and didn't seem to get bitten by a sparkly vampire.

I'd imagine, with his love of horror movies, that getting bitten by a Twilight-style vampire has to be pretty close to being his worst nightmare.

Erik ran in a relay across Iowa in the same heat as N-Dubs, Velo & Boxster, and Rev & Z just watched... ;)

I think you should rename the grandchild but that's just me.

Or go with (you could shorten to"Mo"):

We have maybe a dozen of these scattered through the woods. I love the bark on them.
