Somebody has found a connection between Paul Rhoades and the collapse of United States is imminent. CF is just plain nuts during the off season.

For KC.

Brewin' in the rain.....I'm brewin' in the rain...

Well, I'm in the garage, it's raining outside.

This one has some nice rollsof thunder. Thankfully it mostly missed us as I still need to mow and get the glorious pork loin in the smoker.

I went fora nice easy 10 mile ride this morning. I thonk I may ask for clip/normal shoe pedals for Christmas.

The driveway is almost dried already, here. One little spray is it. Yeah, still some rumbling, not much action.

Costco had some for like $30 a while back, maybe not the same thing.

This is a full size walkin closet, not a cubbie hole closet. Even the stuff they sell as bedroom ceiling lights isn't really enough to actually fully light those rooms. Current lamp = 5800 lumens and the 4-foot LED is 3800-4000. I like LOTS of light and most of the stuff they sell falls well short of what I want. Even the replacement halogens or LEDs for my kitchen can lights fall below the lumens of the original bulbs that the layout/spacing was design to illuminate with.

So house is a combo platter of old incandescents, fluorescents, halogens and new LEDs.

We took Z to the zoo yesterday. I'm really glad Blank doesn't have open enclosures like that. I finally decided to read a bit about the situation and decided that I don't have enough information on what the mom did or did not do.

Horrible all the way around. If we ever have a chance to go to an open enclosure while she's still tiny she'll be in the stroller the entire time.

I may be a slightly paranoid mom sometimes.

I agree that we don't have enough info to condemn the mother or the zoo. We can make guesses based on the available information, but I think it will be a perfect storm of failure on the part of humans that resulted in a captive gorilla being killed.

A child was in a place that he should NOT have been, and should not have been able to reach. Whether it was a lack of parenting, or a lack of planning on the part of the people who designed the enclosure, the net result is a dead gorilla...and that makes me sad.

That doesn't mean I value the gorilla over the boy, it just means I think the adult humans collectively failed to protect both the child and the gorilla.

Many moons ago old Uncle Boxster took his three young nieces to the St. Paul zoo while sis and BIL attended a wedding here. Was in the nocturnal exhibit which is dark and down stairs. It was VERY crowded, and of course, pretty dark. Got to the top of the stairs exiting and only had two little girls. Youngest, maybe 3 or 4 at the time, was missing. Freak out. Instructed older girls to freeze in place and pushed back through the crowd. Littlest had backtracked and was there with her nose against the glass looking to try and see some animal. As a childless dude it's as close as I have come to parental like freakin'.
