OK, back home how this'd work is you buy a bunch of beer, get the chainsaws from GFIL, Chaser comes down and "advises" from the ground while mumbling "ain't no fuggin' way I'd be getting up there" while Rabbuk and I dangle precipitously from the tree not knowing what we're doing with no personal protective equipment and only stop long enough to get another beer every half hour or so, by lunch time, either the tree'd be down, or one of us would be.[/QUOT

Thanks for the lol 00. :)

So does Saturday work for everyone?

Additional help can be provided by:

Bawbie-Mod for additional supervision
AIRBHG-Prescribe glasses when one of us inevitably loses an eye.

I'm not great with heights, but once we get the tree down I can operate a chainsaw pretty effectively.

I have 2-3 working chainsaws. If the only requirement is that it has to come down, consider it finished. No promises where besides down.

Well part of it is hanging over the house and it is within ten feet of the house. Ten feet to the another side is the fence and 10-15 feet opposite the fence is the deck. So it is a bit of a project.

It is an approx 40 year old silver maple.

Why don't you just get some goats to eat the tree?

Was at the Phoenix zoo and had to go to the petting zoo. Basically a bunch of goats. Had one stupid one keep butting me, started.to tick me off. While he did that apparently his buddy stole the zoo map out of my back pocket. I see he has a big bite and say screw it. The woman working starts yelling at me, asks me if I know what paper does to a goat. I told her it does nothing, stupid things even eat glass. She gets more wound up, makes me take the paper from the cost and kicks me out of the petting zoo. Told me she knows animals better than me because (yada yada yada; I quit listening here as I walked out the gate).

Well, it's not an especially GOOD diet for them, and probably shouldn't be deliberately fed to them. OTOH, it does little harm other than empty nutrition. Goats will eat (or at least taste) pretty much anything that vaguely resembles food. Unless you were tearing up little strips of your map to feed to the goat instead of buying the little food pellets in the vending machines, she was probably over-reacting.

For the record - goats are a helluva lot smarter than sheep. :)

Eh. She may have overrated, but, as a former zoo volunteer, I can see her point. We had a walrus (and a "famous" one at that) die because I kid threw a pinecone in the enclosure and the walrus ate it. In controlled environments where the animal's diets are very strictly regulated, it can effect them differently than animals outside of those environments.
