Thanks for the advice all. Woo, there are tryouts in most of the schools here in KC. There have to be or there would be too many kids. Coming from a small town I never dealt with some of the issues of a larger school so I find myself questioning myself often.
One big benefit of the tryouts is that it also allows some of the poorer kids to shine. We had a kid on my daughter's soccer team that couldn't continue due to the cost. It's really sad to see someone that loves the sport and is really good at it not be able to play at the appropriate level.
