Not sure if this will make you feel better, but a dress we ordered listed a month time span for when it might show up.

I ordered a bike cell phone holder that showed over a month for delivery and no quicker shipping options. Couldn't find an alternative I liked so ordered it thinking the order would to go to China where some sweatshop minion would sew it to order and than have it shipped to the USA. It was delivered in a week.

Interesting....both yesterday and today I saw a Rolls-Royce in nearly the exact same spot, not parked, and not the same one. And those are the only 2 RR's I've ever seen in Iowa.

The preferred word at our house right now is douchenozzle.

There are currently hair ties on every surface in the house (couch, counter, dressers, dryer) but none in the vehicle or in my purse. Time to relocate a few.

that is my situation as well. Plenty on the coffee table and bedroom furniture, need more in purse and car.

Totally bummed I didn't go to the Porsche event I was invited to Monday morning. I had rsvp'd but didn't feel great that morning so skipped it. Magnus Walker, the feature guy, crashed his car in front of the dealership with a reporter in the car with him! Idiot. Busy frontage road. Take a look.

The time frame said 3-7 days, so I really can't complain. But I've had stuff from California arrive in 2 days before by first class. The odd thing is it was accepted twice in 2 days.

00, can't rep ya, but I loved the bowling ball bumper analogy in the football thread.

I thought that was good too. People being all "my 13 year old can totes weigh the pros and cons completely for himself with his fully mature 13 year old brain" stuff was ridic. They cannot. They can say how much they want to play, but the parent is still the one more capable of weighing the risks.

Welp, this sounds like a conversation I'm best to stay out of.....

I would think most people agree that pre-teens/teenagers aren't the best at weighing short-term benefits vs. long-term risks. That's what parents are there to help them with.

Eh. I'd disagree. I would think a 12-13 year old should at least have a pretty good grasp on if they want to play a sport and what the benefits/repurcussions could be. I guess in my opinion if they can't figure that out at that age, their parents probably kind of failed them in their first 12 years.

Deciding to be on the team is one thing. Deciding if they are healthy enough to play is another. Kids can (and do) allow their desires to override common sense...frequently. :)

I agree with this, but depending on what you consider "deciding if they're healthy enough". Plus, maybe things have changed since I played, but I had to have a physical every year to show I was healthy enough to play? Hell, that's how I found out I have a heart murmur.

Yup. I'm talking about accepting results of that physical if the doc says No, you can't play. Accepting being benched until you recover from an injury. Kids don't always accept no for themselves. That's where parents have to be the reinforcement. My son could talk anyone into just about anything. He was (is) a great debater with an ability to read people very well. Had I not been there, I have no doubt he would have talked himself back onto the mat after a head injury in a wrestling meet.
