I think I would have gone with this one...
my cough is full of nasty right now so I thought it more icky.
Three stupid drivers in three minutes. Obviously not a record, but not that great of a start to the day.
1) Guy in front of us totally blowing the red light to turn left
2) Guy in dump truck who meanders into my lane so that I can't get past him. (Different intersection)
3) Guy who TOTALLY blows a red light at #2 intersection, who got the horn, and gave me this dumbfounded look like "What?"
Then there was ignorant guy parked in the one spot to get air for my tires at the HyVee gas station. He was in his truck for 4-5 minutes, doing nothing.
Oh. And when I was filling my tires, I noticed an unbent paper clip in the spot. Nice place to have one when you're trying to "fix" your tires.

Pants storm update: sounds like you all can rest easy knowing I'll be safe. Looks like it's just moving northeast of the island and we might just get a little rain, but mostly really good waves for surfers.
Also, for you weather nerds, what makes up thunderstorms? When I was home, we had about three of them, and I realized I've never seen or heard thunder and lightning while in storms in Hawaii. Is this just a coincidence over my more than year here or is there something with the geography that makes it not happen here?
To be fair, I highly doubt many locals could answer either, other than with "what's a thunderstorm, bruh?"
Yes, but that wouldn't stop them from calling you a haole, I was just filling in on their behalf.
Oh, and speaking of that "South Pacific" series...if you got the Hulu, I think you'd enjoy it. Lots of interesting stuff about the region, and the unique animals/plants: non-flying birds, lizards who climb trees, vegetarian skinks, etc.
