Nickels doesn't ever post on Facebook, no matter how much I encourage her to.
KC doesn't either, but at leasts comments on my stuff.
CG just randomly posts comments on people's stuff by confusing Facebook posts with texting.
00, maybe "you" on first shift doesn't officially know about the change yet, so the boss's boss didn't feel it was appropriate to discuss with you until the first shift "you" was officially informed?
If my Facebook is too quiet and "unliked" I just post a picture of the grand-nephews and tag my niece and likes roll in. Or post a cute picture of my sister as a little kid and tag her. Boom, her million friends are all over it.
Also been unleashing the power of the old slides on some old college friends. Dropping pictures of their 20-something selves on their timelines is fun. Nice pictures, not pictures of them passed on a couch with a bong sitting on the coffee table.

OK, I'm kinda down in the dumps, which probably contributes to a lesser filter on what I've been posting lately (although, pants, the drama over you skipping town without meeting up with me and WX was strictly me busting your balls, thought it was funny when WX mentioned it, decided to run with it).
So I'm basically a month out from my oldest starting kindergarten. Which means that M-F, I'll see him for about 20-45 minutes in the morning and that's it. Not cool. The only reason for that is me being on 2nd. The only reason I'm on 2nd is because I moved to 2nd to be a manager, then moved out of managing into an opening on 2nd, but I have been on 1st shift in the past (my first 7-ish years with the company). I've been with my company 12 years, and 8 of that have been supporting (either as a part of, or as a direct support to) my current area. As much as I post about how awesome I am at work at times, there's meat there...when my boss's boss needs something, I'm one of his go-to people. Just yesterday, there was an open discussion about a situation, and it was floundering, and BOOM, I changed the course and gave them something to go off and do. Then later on, a manager thing comes up, he called me, rather than the actual manager, to work it.
The situation is messed up right now because my actual manager is off on a temporary thing and there's a temporary replacement, but that's drug out longer than planned (because the guy my boss is temping for is kind of a weird, unresolved thing), and everyone is struggling to find their roles...which to be honest, if this temp thing becomes permanent, it is telling me that the people that are filling in in the absence might not be the right fit if they can't step up and do what needs done now and find roles on their own.
So yesterday, I went to see my boss's boss, and talk to him about my sitch with the kid, and basically say...I really want to stay here, but with my experience, I don't think I should just be sitting waiting for something forever...I'm not looking yet, but it might be a deal where I see something and apply one night. Admittedly, that's a hairy discussion to have with your boss's boss, but we go back a long time, and we have a relationship of mostly mutual trust, evidenced by the call last night about the manager thing. Basically, he said he wants to keep me, doesn't know of anything right now, but will keep it in his mind as things go forward, he'd rather find something than lose me.
OK, cool, I respect that. But then about 2 hours later, the other 'me' on 2nd says "did you hear about X?" Basically, there's a bunch of movement going on, and not possible movement...people have been told that you're doing this, you're doing this starting last week...and the end result of that is a person acting as a 'me' on 1st is not going to be doing that anymore. Which doesn't necessarily mean there's an opening...perhaps they absorb it within the group, but boss's boss said nothing either way about any of this deal when talking with me...and it's not like it's up in the air at all (other than what they do with that work on 1st at the end of the chain), the other moves sound pretty definitive. So it's not like I won't find out about this stuff.
I know there's probably 2 things playing into this...first, with my boss being off on the temp thing, communication has fallen...things aren't getting to the people that might need to know...nothing serious, but little stuff, enough to make people feel like they don't completely know what's going on (ironically, this is another thing that I've stepped up and helped fix, despite the fact that technically, I'm not a leader). So maybe he thought I knew of these moves and that's why I came to see him. I didn't and it wasn't, but maybe he thought that. Second, my boss's boss (in my words) can be a little...protected (OK, paranoid is the word I have in my head, but that's probably too strong) about information getting out and it turning into a mess, and he's also very hesitant to tell anyone anything about possibilities of people movement. I'm guessing he has or knows of a situation in the past where someone was told something would/might happen and it didn't, and it turned into a mess type thing. I think he talks about this stuff with his first level reports, but he will NOT with the level below. Which is annoying because he sometimes talks to me and leans on me almost as if I'm one of his direct reports.
So, I just feel like I'm hanging out, wondering if something will change, and having no idea. So part of me thinks I should be looking, but in my company, my area is my passion, and it's very different from the rest of the company. So if I leave, do I close a door...and what happens if I don't like where I go (that's not just a theoretical question, I have worked in other areas, and it wasn't my thing due to the nature of that area...and the rest of the company is really more like that area than mine)...so do I look outside of the company...and then do I move, do I take a pay cut (my pay now is commensurate with my experience and skill set as they apply to my company, not necessarily the industry as a whole)
Uggh...so if I seem specifically sharp around the edges, or smarmy, or unfiltered, it's probably because I'm definitely affected by this now.
00, maybe "you" on first shift doesn't officially know about the change yet, so the boss's boss didn't feel it was appropriate to discuss with you until the first shift "you" was officially informed?
can you ask your boss about that potential opening on first that you heard about and ask if he has any info he can share with you about it right now?
I've gotten pretty familiar over the last couple years with things dragging out/spots being temporarily filled for longer than they should......it's a sticky spot to be in.
I haven't noticed anything too bad about you lately. Of course, I am new here and relatively oblivious to a lot of stuff, generally speaking.OK, I'm kinda down in the dumps, which probably contributes to a lesser filter on what I've been posting lately (although, pants, the drama over you skipping town without meeting up with me and WX was strictly me busting your balls, thought it was funny when WX mentioned it, decided to run with it).

Are there other employers in the area that you would consider working for? Do they have similar positions. If so, it doesn't hurt to put out a few flyers to see what they can offer you professionally and financially. However, it does sound like you generally enjoy where you work and what you do.
It can be tough to do this but try not to let these frustrations with your current employer become personal while you are searching for something new (if you decide to do this). You don't want to burn these bridges if it comes to getting a job offer from another place. Once you leave, they may ask you come to back if you leave on good terms. You could even state that you could see yourself back there during the exit interview.
Good luck and, for god's sake, keep on keeping us abreast of the MILF situation at the pool.
00, my view is always there is no harm in looking (unless of course you discover there isn't much out there you like).
You enter a whole new world when your children are in school. The friends, activities, and homework increase until you reach a point when they are teenagers and they just briefly grunt at you on their way out of door.
You and I probably distribute more rep than the rest of this site combined. I'm in the process of repping all 114 people who gave my OU vs ISU big 12 tournament thread op a thumbs up.

Apparently I'm hovering somewhere between Hobbit and Dwarf. My feet aren't hairy, so I'm going with Dwarf. Besides...they're taller.![]()
Nobody gives a crap about my "status"...but I find the things that other people post to be very entertaining, and will occasionally link a CF'er if it makes me think of them.![]()
Has anyone ever done the Boone Scenic Railroad thing?
Has anyone ever done the Boone Scenic Railroad thing?
It's a fun small ride if you like views. My husband wants to do the dessert or dinner car sometime. The museum is pretty neat too.
We need to look at dates to take Z. We won four tickets for this season.
