Random thoughts III

I can't tell if it is a stuffy nose problem or teething or what. Every few hours tonight has been wake up and cry then calm down after 15 minutes or so then repeat. Sigh. :-)

My Easter morning randomness. Was too busy yesterday to follow along.

Mtown--totally acceptable to leave the dealership. Hoping you can find what you want.

Iowa State pep band plays Uptown Funk, much to the girls' delight when they were at events late this winter.

i hope the green bean casserole was made ahead of time. I try to do as much as I can ahead. I ran out of time to put together cheesy hasbrowns last night, I need to do that this morning yet. I did get my french toast bake and pie made yesterday. I usually buy refridgerated pie crusts because time saver, but yesterday I ruined both before I got something I could use. I ended up making one from scratch.

Our neighborhood has been doing an egg hunt since as long as we've lived here. The oldest kids are now 12-13, we still range down to a few month old. You bring a dozen filled plastic eggs, the adults go "hide" them in about 4-5 adjoining backyards and then the kids go run and pick up 12 eggs. This year they put together a scavenger hunt for the older kids 10and up. Then there are a silver egg and golden egg hidden. Those were worth $5 and $10 this year. Some kids made bank at the hunt. Next year they want to try and do a nighttime flashlight egg hunt for the older kids.

Our (almost) 4yr old is having a hard time understanding why at Christmas we celebrated baby Jesus but at Easter Jesus is an adult who died. Trying to decide how early to get to mass. All 5 Ash Wednesdsy masses were standing-room only, I imagine Easter will be the same. Although maybe a lot of the students are home with their families.

Rev, hope Z gets doing better. Birdy sounds like a lot of fun in your neighborhood today, casserole got done. 00 hope the boy gets well soon.

If I ever move a long distance again...we hiring help.

We didn't end up getting on the road until 1PM yesterday. Get on the highway and it is governed at 70. Everything went fine and dandy stopped in Bethany Missouri to meet up with my parents and switch a driver around.

As I am coming up to the Lamont rest area some light comes on and an alarm starts going off so I pulled in as an Amish horse and buggy ironically went by on a parallel road. Figured out it was some regeneration thing that needed to burn off the built up carbon which took a half hour.

Back on the road I am coming up to the Pilot truck stop at Osceola and I suddenly lose almost all engine power so I pulled in there. No lights ever came on so I called the Penske help line and they dispatched some truck repair place out of Lamoni to fix it. It ended up being the air line for the turbo blower came off so a five minute clamp job and we were off again.

Debated stopping at Des Moines or Newton since we were getting tired but decided to just push on. Pulled into the place we woll be staying for the time being at 12:20. Unloaded the cats and plugged the deep freezer in then one of the cats bolted out the door.

We couldn't find him for awhile and I was starting to freak out because this cat doesn't know where he is at so he wont know where to return to. Finally my dad found him in the garage so I closed the door and was finally able to corral him.

Called it a night and drove to my parents. I was welcomed back to Marion by three Marion cops two of whom were giving a field sobriety test on south 11th.

All in all we made it and it is nice to be back in the 319. Now who want a to help unload this afternoon?

If I were close enough I'd tell you and your wife to go try and take a nap while I unload. I need a workout anyway!

I would, but will be tending the smoker all afternoon. Easter pulled pork. All in all, a bad week for me, or I'd offer there, too. Monday will likely be setting up my new phone, rest of week preparing for cutting cable.

I am busy watching sky beagles and drinking coffee and procrastinating about doing yard work before the forecast 6 days of rain.

And there's that 280 miles thing.

319 represent!

So we are eating lunch with my family and L starts crying because he is hungry. So my wife covers herself amd starts feeding him.

My sister comments how quickly he got quiet. My wife's very fast response.

"It would be hard for you to make noise with a boob in your mouth too."

I lost it.

00, I might need your opinion here. I do a lot of "dad jokes" but I do them fully ironically and knowing it's a "dad joke" hence the reason why I made the joke in the first place. Is it still considered a "dad joke" in those circumstances?

Sorry, been messing with my home wiring for the cable cutting coming up. I say yes, although it doesn't have the negative connotation tied with someone who makes them thinking they're real humor.

Like campy movies watched knowing they're campy, and enjoying the campi-ness of them. You take the dork factor out if you intentionally do it, but yes, they'd still be considered dad jokes, IMHO.

Forreal...you put a boob in my mouth, I will instantly stop crying.

And...super-happy update from my grumpy post on Thursday about phones and wiring.

So, the wire I thought dead ended in the basement wall meaning I was screwed for putting up an outside antenna? Well, I was going forward with new plans today, and found it terminated in the living room communication box. Seriously, I was happier than when ISU won the big 12 tournament...and still am giddy a half hour later.

Also, the cell phone thing is working itself out as well, decided to go with Verizon directly with no contract. $45 a month, and I got a certified pre-owned S4 Mini for like $130.
