Ugh, I just posted in a Hoiberg thread. I feel so dirty. But I don't get all the "he's waiting until the kids are done with school" talk. Like Monday at 2:30 the UHaul is picking them up from school and they will never return to Ames. All three boys play on AAU teams with tournaments through July. "Kids, Daddy's taking a new job. We leave as soon as school is done. Forget about playing basketball this summer with the teams you've played on for the last four year. We're done here."
Hey Twin Cities Clones, has your guys' afternoon commute been slower than normal this past week? I swear as the week as gone on it's been longer and longer.

I find it funny that you guys are talking the seven sins. Our pastor is starting a summer series based of this book:

She's a Philosophy major from Notre Dame, so she has had great access to Catholic historical perspective. Being a non Catholic, I am curious to see how our pastor will apply scripture to her book. None of the reviews of her book have mentioned the Bible yet. They have mentioned some interesting historical works though.
As a catholic...this is the one thing that drives me INSANE about so much catholic stuff...it's like...hey, this is actually covered very well in the bible, maybe set aside "pope so-and-so said this" and actually use the word that you claim is God's word, but never seem to use outside of the weekly mass readings.

Also as a Catholic, I think people underestimate how much of the music, especially the more modern music, it just about straight out of the Bible. I was singing at Mass a few weeks ago and didn't open the missal and my son asked how I had the whole thing memorized. Pointed out to him the whole song was pretty much straight out of a favorite passage in Psalms. I am very much a fan of some of the newer music for this reason, but our current priest likes the old songs that remind me of a funeral dirge.
HAHAHAAAA!!!! this reminds me, I actually quit singing a song one time...at St.A, my favorite song for end of mass was "lord of the dance" since it was so joyful and upbeat. Went to our current church, and was all excited when they announced it would be the end of mass song...except it was "daaannnncee.....then.....wherever...you....may...beeeee...." Seriously, it sounded like a funeral song. I shut the songbook and went silent. Mrs. looked at me and said "But that's your favorite song". I responded "yes, when it's not depressing"
Although...I have to tell myself to be kind of be forgiving, I think the gal who does the piano/organ isn't really that good, and I think they keep everything fairly slow for her.
