SILs baby daddy didn’t come to extended family Christmas yesterday. Apparently he doesn’t feel comfortable with them. They are mostly RWNJ so I get it. A couple of years ago we did the whole what are you thankful for thing at thanksgiving and one uncle said “I am thankful for my white privilege.”

So warm here I went outside to spray paint the gold colored base of an old vintage ceramic Christmas tree. Came close to Good Willing it but than thought rewiring and restoring it some would be fun. Windy though, my arm hairs are sort of Christmas gold now from spray back.

Testifying
If you've got retired parents and you're with them over the holidays, please check on how much they pay for internet/TV.
Mine have Directv and Century Link and are paying close to $260 a month.
Told them Mediacom/Metronet and YTTV would save them a hundred a month.

I agree.

However, in my case: Mom has dementia and Dad has <5% technical ability or desire to learn. If I convinced them to switch to YTTV (they have just 1 internet option), I would be punishing myself with continual phone calls or text messages every day to "fix" something and they don't know how it happened. I receive phone calls every time iPhone has an update and whenever he can't figure out how to undo something he did, though he claims he has no idea how it happened. LOL.

Wherever I go, there I am.
The Amazon Music "Holiday Favorites Station" is playing a good selection of Christmas songs. Most peeps would recognize the tunes and not many clinkers. Boxster approves.
Good tip, Box!! We're using that strategy this am! Mariah did make an appearance, which seems to have generated some controversy.

And then...we got Last Christmased! But at least it hit us all at the same time.

I'm the exception I like Mariah "all I want for Xmas is you".

I hear ya. My father was an actual rocket scientist (he worked for NASA on the Apollo missions) but by the time PCs came along he was well past understanding "surfing" or even email. My sister taught him how to check his stock portfolio when that stuff stopped showing up in the newspapers, but beyond that...
Let's just say I got sooooo many forwarded emails (and sadly, he was hardline right wing) before he finally stopped using the computer altogether.

Regarding cable TV - she also helped him set up his TV so that he could get the channels he wanted with one remote. Sometimes paying more for simplicity is a blessing. :)
