Random Thoughts 17: Here we go again.

Have a crazy spring with river at or near flood stage for quite a while. Then we get a drought for a month or two. Now it looks like we are going to get all of the rain we missed in a matter of a few days. I imagine we will be back to drought in a week.

Drove Mrs. Velo and daughter downtown to a concert last night. I-94 got absolutely slobber knocked right before I got on it. I hydroplaned a bit when I first got on it because the inner gutter was overflowing into the left lane. It can drain a lot of water in a hurry there. I have never seen it full and overflowing into the lanes of traffic before. Was able to drop them off pretty close to the door. After dropping them off saw some concert goers trying to get to the venue who looked like some of KC's cats when caught out in the rain. All that hairspray went to waste...

Was still raining hard enough to require the wipers on high speed on the way home but stopped abruptly about a mile from the homestead.

Timed it perfectly when I picked them up. I arrived at the appointed corner about 30 seconds after they did and had to stop for a light right in front of them so I didn't back up traffic. The gas burned was a hell of a lot cheaper than the $25 or more they would have had to pay to park.

Taylor Swift? I'm not a millionaire...

One of daughter's friends went to TS show this weekend (second row!) and then is going again in Arrowhead in a couple of weeks. I have no idea how she is paying for it.

Second row would be nasty expensive I'd think. Daughter was upper deck and paid 120/ticket. It was her boyfriends gift to his sisters and she went along with.

Just to give an idea of how ridiculous the whole Taylor Swift thing was here...

The show last weekend was the same weekend as Minneapolis's Pride Festival. The Governer signed a proclamation declaring Friday and Saturday "Taylor Swift Days." The Mayor proceeds to sign a proclamation temporarily changing the name of the City to "Swiftieapolis" on Friday and and another proclamation making Saturday "Taylor Swift Day."

It kind of surprised me because they are both very pro-LGBTQ+. It seems like concentrating so much attention on TS might piss off some that were all about Pride this weekend.

Swift has a heck of a marketing machine. She knows how to market herself. She doesn't care how she does it either, case in point, the Kanye stuff.

The two camp counselor we got are from Missouri and Mexico. The one from Mexico has a typical American name (didn't ask if he Americanized his name, guessing a good chance he did) and the Missouri one has a name I have never heard of in my life. Figured it would be the other way around.

Nope, she's looking for someone to vent/argue with. So were did you go for ice cream? Scoops(?) In Indianola has good ice cream, would go there with Simpson niece when she was in school.
When you are in the CR area Dan and Debbies Creamery has good stuff. Plus when they made a post on FB about some agronomist type that graduated from ISU helping them with the nutrition aspects of their feed they liked my comment of #ActuallyHelpingFarmers. There is also a place in North Liberty that has an AMAZING monster cookie dough ice cream.
