Random Thoughts 17: Here we go again.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me it takes a lot of effort.
The city just raised the valuation on my house by 24% which means my property taxes will be 24% higher next year. They are going to tax people out of their homes.
I got into a fight with a piece of wood today. It split my lip open so I spilt it open.
Yesterday afternoon I managed to miss while driving a small fence post with an engineering hammer. The hammer slipped out of my gloved hand and hit me in the shin. Within about 15 seconds I had what looked like half of a hard boiled duck egg under my skin. Strangely enough the only thing visible today is the tiny scuff on the skin from the blow.
Surprisingly (even to me) I didn't swear. I was more in shock at what had happened and expecting to see something terrible when I looked down.Hmmm, bet you said doggone it ouch.
This is how I picture myself when things like that happen:
If I had sat out last week for any period of time I'd have been covered with greenish yellow oak pollen.
Why I love retirement #102. Was going to go over and visit a former co-worker. He had called wanting some landscape advice. I actually suck at that but agreed to pop over because he's one of the guys from work I actually miss chatting with some. He just called saying he can't meet today, kids car troubles etc. He asked if next week works. Boxster looks at June calendar and see's an eye appointment and nothing else. Can probably fit it in.
Note: Lots of busy work for June including biking, working out, lawn and garden maintenance, house repairs, and birdabouts but this is all "Hmm, wonder if I should do something off that list today or just sloth out?" No friend visit this afternoon, go biking instead!

In a non sloth moment last weekend I washed the deck off. Everything was covered with pollen, like road dust but yellow.
That's insane. Luckily it doesn't get that bad around my house. I've been to BWCA in May a couple of times and it's crazy to see the amount of pollen coming out of the trees. As much as I love BWCA, it was hell on my allergies. Lots of Benadryl was consumed.
Will do a pollen test in the next hour or so when I head out to bike. Irritated the heck out of my eyes the last two rides.
