Yep motorcycle acident, broke a bunch of bones.
Lots of men struggle to recognize when their bodies are not peak condition any more, and their reaction times are slower. And when you're 70+ you simply don't bounce as well as you used to.

He got clotheslined by a wire strung at rider height in a parking lot. I did that once in my car after dark in an airport parking lot. Cable was maybe 4 feet of the ground with no markings.

That was a two-part comment. A younger man would probably have been more bruised than broken...but there are always exceptions to the rule.

Luckily for you Lew isn't just any man...
:)otz:)
He's coming to terms with getting winded due to the histoplasmos and slower rx time likely due to the stroke. But I agree..
He ISN'T just any man. :D

True. I am in good enough shape that I don't think I am much more crash prone when riding my bike but I do worry about the effects of a crash more. Collar bones and wrists are bad for bike crashes even for younger peeps but more so more an elder like me with more brittle bones.

Note to self: don't crash.

I gave up cycling for that reason, broke a wrist when much younger, when forced off the road by a car that didn't stop, wouldn't heal nearly as well now. I've considered getting a recumbent, but wouldn't make a good speed bump for a distracted driver and not being able to stand would make hills a serious grind. But I do miss it and every once in a while I think...

Mark me down as a predatory, scavenging, grazing, browsing omnivore, if we're doing a poll or something.
