Random Thoughts 17: Here we go again.

Okay, rain is nice, but two months ago would have been better. Getting it non stop now.

Pushing four inches since last week now after not raining like this in two or three years. Good soaking but a lot too late to save stuff this year. Will help trees and evergreens going into winter. Wish I'd overseeded the lawn but didn't want to water everyday. Guessed wrong on that.

@BoxsterCy @NWICY talking with a friend and we have identical air guns. Sheridan 20 cal. Do/did either of you have one of those? They seemed really popular around here since they were made in WI. They were the most popular in the 60s and 70s it seems.

So far I've been able to eat oatmeal, Mac & cheese, stovetop stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed peas and pancakes. Not a great diet but it sure feels good to put some semblance of solid food in my belly
When my jaw was wired shut way back when, my two favorites were mashed bananas and Graham crackers soaked in milk. I still do the Graham crackers now and again for a snack. Possible alternatives.

I do not I've got the .177 around somewhere.

I start week after next. Hate leaving my boss without anyone to replace me, but I think he should've been looking to hire someone anyway. I don't think he's sure he wants to continue with the business though. Plus he's still trying to balance work with his 8 month old and he still has a rough emotional day here and there, and it will be a year this weekend since his dad first went to the doctor, so he'll be thinking about that. Inconsistent work really wouldn't be fair to a new hire.

Anyway, the guy I will be working for is local, (actually lives like half a mile down the road from my work) only has a couple others working for him, said he'd like to have 6 or 7 to have 2 crews but he can't find anyone reliable. Taking a small pay cut, but it will end up being more since I'm guaranteed 40 hours, and it's something I really want to do and it will give me the experience for advancement or potentially go out on my own someday.

Glad I kept checking Indeed, everything else was either in Milwaukee or Madison.

Well I guess I did my good deed for the day, got a knock on the front door tonight about 8, told them to go to the back it was a 20 something guy that had ran out of gas, lended him my gas can and took him back down to his car. So on his way he went.

LOL. That would be too new for me to own! My 20 gauge is a single shot Springfield Model 1929 which was a childhood gun of my fathers. My 12 gauge is his Winchester Model 97 which is only maybe 75 years old. I have paper shotgun shells for both...how old are those? My BB gun and M&P Shield are the only guns I own that aren't 50 years plus old. The 30/40 Krag and great grandfather's Colt are over 100 as is the German pistol my dad carried around in the Battle of the Bulge (stopped making that model in the 1920's).

Your Springfield has me interested. I have a 16 gauge single. Not sure how old it is, but it’s old. I think it was my grandpas.

Model 97 corn sheller!! I have one that was my grandfather's. I always thought it was cool as a kid that you could keep the trigger pulled and just pump the slide to keep shooting. Not the most accurate, but interesting. Most pumps don't roll like that.
