LittleWx letting the dogs out “there are flying lights in the sky! That is so weird.”
MrsWx and I look at each other with “yeah whatever” looks on our faces.
MrsWx a few minutes later letting the dogs in “oh there are lights in the sky.”
Some dealership using spot lights to get attention. Haven’t seen that tactic in a while.

No MBB tonight, so here's an option: the 3MT (Three minute thesis) finals for Iowa State will be livestreamed from 6 to 8 p.m. from the grad college's FB page. These grad student competitors get three minutes and one slide to describe their research in both real-life relevance AND in language you can understand. I've watched some before and was impressed enough to send complimentary emails to some of them later. This is NOT a scientific presentation contest.

If you watch live, you can also vote for the people's choice award following the presentation. And even if you don't watch, take a look at the 3MT page on the ISU grad college website. It's truly a worldwide effort to share science with everyone.

The song West End girls sucked when it came out just heard again it still sucks
I never hated it but I never thought it was great either. I was shocked at how much the UK Olympic Committee put that song and Pet Shop Boys at the center of their London Olympics open/closing ceremonies. Seemed a bit over the top.

I think it's one of those things where they were gigantic in the u.k. and moderately popular here, like oasis. The pet shop boys are apparently the highest selling duo in British history.

One minute or one hour. Would not have impacted the level of interest someone else might have in my grad disertation. Anyone would be bored to tears.

It isn't for everyone, that's true. And the student needs to be motivated to think about the importance and impact of their work in terms of "how do I explain this to my grandma."
For the record, I did a creative component of a variety of one-topic classroom lessons for the high school ag classroom on pigs, pork production, finding info, etc. using various formats. Probably wouldn't work well for this either.

Was there supposed to be?

With the crappy weather we've been having I have only been able to get a morning walk in once so far this week. Last night I went to mall to get a decent amount of steps in. (Hangs head in shame)

Broke a piece off a tooth on Friday, got it "fixed" enough for now, crown on the horizon after as the pre-treatment estimate comes back. I need to put it off until 2022 so I have Flex $ for it.
I was just in a month ago for a regular checkup and all appeared well.
I really don't mind going to the dentist. It just can be expensive at times.

I've got a checkup/cleaning today. Just got a letter from dentist saying she is retiring. Bummer. Like her, she doesn't push for stuff that doesn't HAVE to be done right now. I have an old molar crown that has a chunk broken off. The root is still protected since the crown has that metal base. She was all, well we can replace that anytime your ready but it's fine right now.

If you see men wearing hats and a lot of old cars driving around you might want to check and see if if it is 1944 and LittleWx didn't open up some time portal.

BTW, haven't seen a real vintage WWII carbon arch search light in decades. Little Boxster was pretty amazed when he saw the smoke coming off the carbon rods. Mini me had thought they were just giant light bulbs. Well, the new ones are. Those old one are long gone now.

High school tennis banquet last night. My daughter won the "Rebel" (basically best attitude) award for JV. I'm pretty sure that means that she is better able to control her emotions than the other 14-16 year-old girls. To be honest, she deserves it. She works hard and really does a great job of maintaining a positive attitude and always being helpful.

Found out last night that a friend's bar is closing down on Dec 31. The whole complex has been bought by Kwik Shop and they are just going to bulldoze everything as they don't want to deal with tenants/leases.
It's quite a large site so I'm not sure what they plan on doing unless their goal is to build a Kwik Shop in Omaha the size of a truck stop. I would say it's double the size of the lot of the Casey's that is practically spitting distance away.

Thank goodness they're getting rid of the fitness center.
