Speaking of roundabouts. Linn county has spent the last couple of years doing improvements on County Home Rd which is a heavily traveled road across the north side of CR/Robins/Marion. They just reopened it today and directly from them "This newly improved cross-county road features multiple improvements focused on safety and traffic flow including the well-liked roundabout times two!"

These are both within a handful of miles from JC and I.

More than one lane in spots. Not two full circles as you can't just drive around the north one again if you miss your exit. If that happens you have to drive down around the south one and back up again. A little confusing the first time through but really not bad.

Two more conventional ones in proximity. They are single lane but there is a drive over curb on the inside with another lane width of pavement inside that so larger vehicles have little to no problem negotiating them.

The most important thing to remember is just like you should wait for people to get off an elevator before you get on, a roundabout gives the right of way to vehicles already in it. Those entering should yield to vehicles in the circle. Whenever I am exiting and there is traffic waiting to enter I signal my exit so they can use the gap to enter. Not many people do that but they should.
Is it a bad thing that when we drive through the first of your examples it's generally because we have been at Omni Brewing?

That one is tricky. You really need to know where you are getting out before you get in to the northern roundabout. At first, when we went through that one, we were lucky that there was nobody entering in the 2nd lane at the same time.

The second ones I drive through several times a week and I've come to love them. That intersection at 117th and Business Park Blvd, when it had stop signs, was a real pain. Realistically, the northern one on that image probably isn't necessary but I don't mind it because it really doesn't affect the traffic flow on that frontage road.

I'm a roundabout advocate, but even I think "well-liked" is a stretch. A lot of people hate them until they are late for work and are caught sitting at an interminable stop light while their neighbor goes the other way and cruises right around a roundabout.

It is tricky, but as I recall it has pretty good signage indicating which lanes will allow you to go where. At the speeds you should be entering them you should have time to read the signs and select the proper lane. I recognize that many people do not drive at the speed they should be driving - me included.

Portal back online, up to 19 and another got away. Just waiting for it to land in a swattable spot.

From a communications person: using too many words does not make your sentence twice as good.

If you drive a lot in town I would think it would put a tremendous amount of stress on the starter motor and the battery
I was worried about those things too but the newer ones don't really cause many issues with starters and batteries (there are several reasons that I only sort of understand).

If we do experience quick wear and tear we can turn it off. We can probably catch this if there are battery problems. Not so much with starter problems.

My problem is that I tend to ignore the signs. Probably because I'm not driving at the proper speed.

I have a self admitted lead foot. In my 50 years and millions of miles of driving I have gotten well over a dozen tickets. I can admit I deserved nearly all of them. What is frustrating is that Mrs. Velo probably has a worse lead foot but she has NEVER gotten a ticket. It is unbelievable.

I would guess that she has better cleavage.

Haha, was wondering if it's intersections of CHR and C Ave and Alburnett Road, and sure enough, it is.

They could make a bigger one at the CHR/Hwy 13 intersection as that can also be a cluster.

I signal in esp. if I'm using it to turn left so I'm at least seen. Typically not legally needed but it does no harm since I'm communicating.

Driving the wrong way through them doesn't help either. I've seen some close calls with that scenario.
Signal in esp? Some of us can’t read minds though.

Speaking of road work, they have torn up two sections of the brand new road they built just a year ago. Omaha's road management is a total failure. It must be run by an inbred idiot cousin of someone on the city council.

I'm glad to hear it's finally open. I head up towards Central City a fair amount (volunteering at the scout camp) and from someone who lives on the west side of CR, it's takes a lot longer to use 100 or 30 to get across town to 13.
Also, count me on team roundabout. There's one near my house off Wiley and it's cut measurable time off my commute.
