Any of you that have been out to he black hills have any recommendations for activities, places to see or restaurants that aren't the obvious ones

Almost 20 years after I ended my first stint, I'm back at UPS loading delivery trucks in the morning.
It was fun. It's definitely something I never expected to be doing again.

I have debated getting a side job like that in the past...but my laziness wins out.

Make sure you take a tour of the secret passages of Mount Rushmore. Reptile world was decent.

Do they exit out of a nose or an ear?

I was talking to a friend today that got back from out there not too long ago. He said the VFW(Legion maybe) in deadwood on burger night was good. Not fancy but good and reasonably priced. I don't know if that is the type of thing your looking for or not.

Do they let you go up to those back tunnels nowdays? When I was last out there long ago they told you about them but it was a no go.

Well some days are just hard, got off to a decent start then all slowly unraveled nothing terrible just a series of slowdowns. Topped of by getting nipped by a dog, deep enough to draw blood once I got back for the night peroxided it out washed with soap and water and covered with gauze, new gauze and neosporin on it tomorrow (this) morning. Leaving at 7:15 and getting back at midnite something went awry.

Not sure. We were out there about 10 years ago or so. I would say crazy horse isn’t something you pay for. You can get close enough to get a good look without paying and besides, it was far from finished.

I don't think they have any intention of finishing Crazy Horse that's been going since 1948 according to Wiki.
There are two things I wanted to see in my lifetime, The south end zone at JTS and a completed Crazy Horse. At least I got to see one of them.
I wish they would just take the money and get it finished instead of insisting on being essentially a one man operation. Someone told me years ago that the native Americans weren't all that happy with the project and felt the family was really just milking the idea. Plus they also felt Crazy Horse himself would not have built a monument to himself.

While taking my walk this morning I had a horrifying thought that ended up true.
My cable TV has been out since the storms blew through Friday night/Saturday morning. Up until yesterday afternoon Cox had listed my area as part of a network disruption so I didn't think much of it.
Well after they said all was good my TV still didn't work.
This morning while walking I thought about the fact that I have a booster box to boost the signal being that I have cable outlets in every room. It is on a different circuit than the lights in the basement so I never even thought about that. Went into the garage and hit the reset for that circuit and the TVs started working again.
The horrifying part is that is the same circuit as my basement freezer so that hasn't had power for 4 days.
Stuff was pretty thawed out so I have to toss everything that was in it.

I can't say much about restaurants but the beauty of the Black Hills is the main attraction as far as I'm concerned. Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon are just some of the main things to see.
If you have the chance go see Devil's Tower. It's about 100 miles from Rapid City but I figure, If you haven't seen it and you're in the area then you should.

Started pouring just as I drove to work, but that was 90 minutes ago. Only at office for a couple of hours due to leaving for family wedding in Montana this afternoon. We are flying and the first thing I thought about this morning was storms around Des Moines. We have plenty of time going out so not concerned about any delays, other than vacation time I would be wasting.
