Ruh-roh. By the company, as a scare tactic, or by the police knocking on your door?

By a poster on their high horse in the YTTV Roku thread. Apparently he sat his daughter down and read her the riot act for using her cousins Netflix account. I then commented that everyone does this and even if it is against their TOS the streamers could easily put an end to it by tracing IP addresses but they don't.

I think most people have probably done something similar at some point. In fact, I remember a bunch of us on here piggybacking on a user password to the LHN right after it started, and we all (Cyclones & one Longhorn) watched a game "together". It was better than using those virus farm random streaming services. :D

The vaccination program here in Dirty Dodge was a model in efficiency. (We actually made the news a couple nights.) There were many volunteer people involved. They had it at the mall in half hour shifts, I think they put about 125 or so through each shift. We all got cards, with the second shot date and time already entered. Went like clockwork.

I watched a horror movie called The Doll starring Valeria Lukyanova (human Barbie)
Many movies are referred to as the worse movie ever made. This ranks right up there.

Netflix started doing some warning message and using an emailed verification number last month for new device logins if I understood the news articles correctly.

Well busy day today, fix and repair then use what fixed. Got warm out today, between 5and 9 tonight I probably drank quart of a half of water a quart of lemonade and a quart of Boxster's devil drink (diet soda). Feel rehydrated now.

Man, I always thought RTT was pretty well behaved and now we have 3 mods. Never knew we were such rabble rousers.

Speaking of books and reading, I think The Sand Sea is pretty good based on what time it is and I still reading.

Must stop for the night. Think waiting for book 2 is going to be a pain and I am just getting started on this one. At least it is a real novel at 800 pages so will keep me busy for awhile.

Quick synopsis?

@dahliaclone, saw some tv outrage over Chadwick Boseman not getting best actor Oscar. Justified or not? I figure your the only person I internet know that probably saw both films. I saw neither, so I had no opinion on the subject. I was disappointed when Boseman died because good actor, but it's not like Hopkins is chopped liver.

Drinking wine, eating pizza and watching the new Netflix sci-fi movie Stowaway. Ten minutes in and I am already full on with Mystery Science Theater 3000 commentary. At this point I don't care bear if it turns out to suck because I'll have fun anyway. Mediocre sci-fi > no sci-fi at all.
Watched it last night. I see your point, but it kept me fairly entertained -- albeit the special effects could've used some work.

I watched the Oscars but I long ago learned that sadly the Oscars are usually more about some political agenda then who voters actually feel is the best. The first I remember it coming to the fore was the Barbra Streisand director/Prince of Tides nomination ruckus. It probably happened before then but I didn't really notice. Every since then they seem to be more interested in being in front of rather than caught behind whatever trend du jour. It is sad when deserving artists get caught in the middle of it.

I saw only three nominated films this year (Mulan - Costume Design, Visual Effects; Onward - Animated Feature; The One and Only Ivan - Visual Effects) so I really can't comment on any winners.

I was so glad to see Tyler Perry get the humanitarian award. What he has done has been truly life changing for so very many.

I had heard that this was Frances McDormand's third acting Oscar, and I couldn't think of her second. (First is Fargo, second is Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri) While googling, I saw "Four time Oscar winner..." describing her, then read she was also a producer for Nomadland, so that also counts as a win for her. With that, found this cool little snippet...

With her win in the Best Picture category as well, she is the first woman and only the fifth person overall to take home Oscars for acting and producing, and only the second person to do so on the same night, after Laurence Olivier for the 1949 version of Hamlet.

Thanks Wiki.

But to be grouped with Laurence Olivier? That's...pretty cool.

Looking at the forecast for Saturday, that might be a good day to get on the bike in the morning and make a trip over to Ames to check out the stadium updates in person.

We are looking at making a trip down to Pella on Friday but the pictures ISU has been posting from campus makes me want to say forget Pella and go to God's country.

Quick synopsis?

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53349570-the-sand-sea

Lot of characters and multiple storylines starting out but they will converge in desert sands of the title. I was afraid from some of the comparisons I read early that it was going to be too dense and slow, George R.R. Martin like, but it is not. Not medieval alternate earth but 1880ish with a Hearst like newspaper, explorer adventurers, robber barons, a British like empire, an Americaish western continent etc but with magic and fantasy thrown into the mix. Not wizards and Potter daily magic, but legends of magic staffs that turn out to be true more like an Indiana Jones. Much likey so far.

It's not justified. First of all, Boseman is GREAT is Ma Rainey's Black Bottom...but his part is actually supporting NOT lead so he was put in the wrong category by the academy. Same can be said for Daniel Kaluuya who won best supporting actor for Judas and the Black Messiah...he was 100% a lead. If would have gone lead and Boseman supporting in their respective films, they both very likely would have won.

The sad part is that people are pissed at Anthony Hopkins for winning...like what the ****. What did he do wrong in any of this besides knock his role out of the park? He didn't even show up to the show because he's not an awards type of guy and really thought Boseman was going to win and said he should have in a post awards video.

We're treading into stupidity territory when people think someone should win because they died suddenly or because someone hasn't gotten an Oscar yet while someone else has two. Isn't the award SUPPOSED to be based on actual performance not if they're overdue or other circumstances? So many on Twitter are saying 'Hopkins and McDormand don't deserve it because they've won already'. That makes zero sense to me. If they gave the best performances of the year, and both did in my opinion, then they are fully deserved.

And 100% warranted. She's not a run of the mill normal Hollywood actress and that really rubs a lot of people the wrong way. She doesn't get all fancied up for awards. Her roles aren't glamorous...but she is one of the most loved actresses in the industry, period, end of story. AND she she's playing Lady Macbeth opposite Denzel this year in a new Coen Brothers movie...so she's gonna be nominated again.

She has three Best Actress Oscars. She's only been nominated for Best Actress three times...she's never lost when nominated in that category. That's insane.
