I wonder if it's more a case of not comprehending what they read.
Probably the student who didn't finish reading it and figured she could fake her way through it.

I was supposed to write a book report in high school but I was really busy (and a bit lazy) at the time. I didn't finish the book so the night before I wrote a paper - Symbolism of the color red in The Red Badge of Courage - after digging through the book and finding a half dozen places the color red appeared.

I got an A.

I never have finished reading it.

As a JLMC major, the decline of the daily newspaper makes me sad.
Back in the stone age when I was a paperboy subscribers to the newspaper got a discount off of the daily price or Sunday price when they had it delivered every day or every week. When there was no way we could get the continually regressing Sunday paper delivered to my house for <= the cover price even with special discounts I had enough and cancelled it.

The fact that they no longer allowed you to suspend your subscription when you were out of town didn't help. You could donate your paper - they wouldn't deliver it those days but your subscription money may or may not go to some nebulous charity - but you couldn't pause it and restart it when you returned. As a parting shot when we cancelled Mrs. Velo called on a day early in the week and hung up after waiting to talk to an actual person for over a quarter of an hour because she couldn't wait any longer. When she tried again on like Thursday morning they said that it was too late to cancel her Sunday paper for that week so we would be charged. Bless her heart, she said deliver it if you want to but we have canceled it and we won't be paying for it. They mailed us a final bill for whatever the Sunday delivery rate was at the time - just one Sunday - and we never paid it.

EDIT: Mrs. Velo corrected me that she was on the phone for three-quarters of an hour waiting to talk to someone before she had to hang up that first time.

My one sister is 5 years older than me. We had the same teachers basically. One required book reports on about 5 books. They never noticed mine were identical to my sisters.

I tried cancelling the Mason city paper several times, they always billed me and kept delivering. So smart me said, cancel the credit card and it’s over with. MBNA reopened my credit card and accepted when the charge hit. I got a couple late fees since I didn’t look and the bill was there. By the time I realized what happened, they did it again. I finally convinced the credit card that legal action would happen for them opening a credit card that had been closed. It finally stopped.

Of course not quite as good as the old way, but great for taking in my lunch and quick as hell.
Some of the Uncle Ben's microwaveable flavored rices are pretty good as well. We like the Wild & Long Grain, Spanish, Butter & Garlic, and Creamy four cheese. One package makes two side servings, so they are the perfect size for us.

My older sister is 2 years older then I and my older brother is one year older. I freaking hated going through school always having their same teachers. That's why I took Latin in high school, they both took French so I was in the clear for at least one stinking class.

My closest sis was valedictorian of her class, she worked hard at it. I was always 1/2 in my class and never studied or put any effort into it. The other one that was 1/2 hated me because she studied all the time and was current on everything. I would about sleep through class, scribble a few notes but knew what to listen for and would smoke the exams. There was pure hatred from her to me.

What ticked me off was I could write a 15-16 page paper on the military career of general Pershing and get a 96, another student would write a 4 page paper on pure non-sense and get a 94. I got ticked and asked the teacher once, was told they expect more from me since my sister did well and I had better grades.

I’m 3 years older than my sister. She’s plenty smart enough that she never asked me for any of my old homework. She preferred actually passes classes with more than Ds.

Thinking back to HS, I’m still ticked off that my class rank got bumped two spots due to foreign exchange students. Who else counts the FESs in class rank?

My older sister went to Cornell University, My older brother left high school after his junior year and went to Cornell as well.

One of my nieces came in third in her high school class which she loved because in her words "That's as high as you can get without having to give a speech"

Our speakers at graduation were not the top 2 in the class. One was chosen by the teachers and the other by the class. I bet they were both in the bottom half of the class rankings.

My sister was 2 years older than me and we had a class that you had to do a family tree. It didn't take me very long to research that.

My oldest had to include eye and hair color. I’m not from the town so I just told him, how will they know? Just go Bavarian blue eyed brunettes on it.
