Bought in 6-2019. 2007 BMW 328I, non-turbo. It is as clean inside as it looks outside.

A little research said to stay away from the turbo model. That model wouldhave been destroyed by some idiot throttle jockey. It is a 3 liter inline 6 with stump pulling acceleration, if needed.

Dude wanted $5K, I said "I'll offer $4.5K and we will settle at $4.75K".

20 seconds he agreed. A beauty to drive and admire.

In 2020 I picked up a 2009 335i convertible with the N54 knowing I'd get my hands dirty. As an ME I like doing my own maintenance so YMMV but I paid $9500 cash with 73k and detailed service records. I've added all the parts to support a Stage II+ tune. It is a comfortable highway cruiser that pulls like a muscle car.

I have a 1979 F150 that I have fully restored which has 81,000 original miles. I am the 2nd owner and it sat outside under a tree in its first life while driving an insurance agent back and forth to work daily one mile. My problem is that when started at low rpm’s it has low oil pressure and once it warms up it runs fine with no engine noise. My local garage mechanic says it needs a complete engine overhaul at $10,000 which I am reluctant to jump into. It took 8 years to complete the restoration and I’m ready to drive it locally some and attend some area shows. Any CF experience or opinions as to my next step?

Has the motor ever been gone through? There is probably enough information out there in forum pages that with a little research and DIY you could solve this issue. It may even not be a real issue as oil pressure can vary widely from cold start to operating temperature.

FWIW, just by what you posted, it sounds like it may need a good thorough cleaning / clean out (top end and bottom end - I would probably start with the oil pan) and maybe a newer higher volume oil pump.

No, the motor has never been touched. I realize that the truck only had short runs in it's 81,000 miles and sat around mostly. But since it runs fine at normal rpm's, I find it hard to believe it needs a complete overhaul. I can verify that the truck was never driven out of the county as I knew the original owner well. Thanks for the CJponyparts.com link, I've been using LMC Truck out of KC, Mo. and they are OK but can be out of stock and on order which can be a problem. If you are restoring a vehicle from the 60's on, here is a salvage yard that specializes in used auto and truck parts that are hard to find. Schollmeyer's Chamois, Missouri 65024 cell: 573-694-4300 shop; 573-763-5352. LMU told me I would never find the stainless steel trim for my 79 F150 Custom which was a very rare trim level and these guys had what I needed.

Have you done an oil change on the truck? Maybe it got a different viscosity than OEM. I would assume a 79 would require zinc additive too in case that isn't on your radar.

Shell Rotella works great in older gassers.

If there's one thing we know about technology, it's that it always works. We're definitely not going to hear stories about people in a panic trying to get to a hospital or something and their car won't let them.

Cars are going the way of music and movies. You can buy them but you don't actually own them.

It has been a good time for that 90's/2000's nostalgia to hit me with cars, except the gas mileage I guess.

1993 Dodge Ram W250 with the 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel with Intercooler. I bought this out of Florida 16 years ago. She is a member of the Cummins 200,000 Mile Club with 280,000 miles on it. The 2001 XJ belongs to my son it has a an inline 4.0 stroked to 4.7 making about 310hp in a 3200 pound Jeep.. The setting is Red Meadow Lake off the North Fork Road- about 10 miles from the Canadian Border- North of the North Gate going into Glacier National Park.

I've owned a ton of cars in my life, but my two favorites:

74 Z-28-High School
427 BB, 4 speed M22 rock crusher, California turbo exhaust, 850 holley DP, Cragar SS (of course), etc. It had the widest legal rear tires and it still bounced all over the place. Broke down very often, but wow, it was fun. Yes, those are blue license plates; I'm old.

Almost the exact opposite of the Camaro. Slow(160hp) but so fun to drive fast and of course reliable. 8000 rpm redline. Smooth 5 speed. Most people pimped them out, but I just added a cold air intake and some shocks. Did some auto-crossing. Paid $16,500 for it brand new, kept it 2 years, and sold it for the exact same price. They only made this version 2 years, and was somewhat in high demand.

Cold air intake had to be the most popular modification of the mid 2000's. Thanks Fast and The Furious.

That's about the point where BMW's insistence on using ABS plastic and natural rubber becomes problematic. I called mine 'Project Bummer' for the first 6 months or so until I got all the little things totally squared away. Awesome looking car (ignoring the flatbed attached to it).
