Want to chat about your favorite car?

Vent about the dealer charging a million dollars for an oil change and tire rotation?

Ask questions about CF users experiences with their model/make or seek advice on repairs or trouble shooting?

Talk tires?

Here's the placeholder thread for those postings.

What it isn't going to be is place for trolling or ranting like maybe a Ford guy to just rant about how much he hates Chevy pickups or visa versa. Threads in the Off Topic Forum, like our sports threads, are moderated, it ain't a free for all.

Do any of you have any first hand experience in selling a vintage or collectable car on the auction site Bring a Trailer?

I like https://carsandbids.com/ a lot better. I have both purchased a car and sold a car on that platform. They recently expanded the age of car they will auction (used to be 1980s and up). Support was really good as both a buyer and seller and I like that they are a little more picky about what they put up on their site. In the case of the car I sold, there's no way to know for sure, but it seemed like I got about 10% more than the somewhat similar recent comps on bring a trailer.

I listen to their podcasts every week and watch the car review videos that come out twice a week. Love their content.

I was a big Jeep guy before I had kids. Sold everything a month before my first son was born (regretted it every day since) and am just now getting back into working on cars 15 years later because of how expensive everything has gotten. I've been doing almost everything on my wife's van and my Volvo.

Current project is a 93 F250 with a 7.5L 460, ZF5 manual, ext cab and 8' bed that sat for like a decade. Got it on the road again last spring and have enough miles on it now that I'm really starting to find the issues but overall it runs pretty solid. Coolant leak I haven't tracked down yet. Need to replace the 2nd fuel tank. Leaky valve cover gasket. Some belts. Hoses. Etc. Minimal rust and an interior with zero tears or cracks. Just waiting for it to warm back up again.

Once daughter #2 is finished with school and off the payroll my goal is to make my next car a 1978 Chevy Blazer K5 restoration project. Bench seats in the front and back, but modernized interior (as much as possible) to make it nice since I'm getting old. Two-tone paint scheme on the exterior, not certain of colors but maybe black matte with a gray or brown stripe. Lots to think through. Wife doesn't know any of this.

FYI - American Dream Machines downtown Des Moines usually has a couple at varying levels of restoration. The one below is obviously on the very top end but I've seen some listed between 10k and 30k. Their shop down there is worth a look in person regardless if you like older cars. They have it wide open during the concours d'elegance car show around the sculpture park every year.
