Vehicle Definition
Iowa State uses the following definitions for vehicles: a vehicle is any car, pick-up truck or SUV. A recreational vehicle (RV) is any vehicle that includes a restroom. Vehicles parking in standard car stalls including any attached accessories must not exceed a maximum stall length of 24-feet and maximum width of 8-feet, 6-inches.
Vehicles with pull-behind trailers and pull-behind smokers are prohibited.
Use of Space/Travel Lanes
It is important to make every space available to use for parking as the number of access passes available per lot equals the numbers of stalls available. Automobiles and RVs may park only in designated areas. In order to efficiently use every parking lot, specific locations are assigned for automobiles and RVs.
Your parking pass entitles you to use of one parking space. Parking in lots is on a first come, first served basis except in lots with reserved and numbered spaces.
The use of a parking space for other reasons, such as portable grills, games tents, chairs, etc. is not permitted in non-reserved areas. For reserved parking lots, a parking space used for other reasons is only permitted if a parking pass is presented for specific space not used for vehicle.
Vehicles have the right of way in designated red travel lanes within the parking lots. Any tailgating equipment, tents, chairs or other items must be moved from travel lanes as vehicles pass through the lots. Parking lot staff can ask patrons to move or relocate any equipment they deem to be disruptive. Failure to comply may result in removal from the parking lots or loss of future parking access.
Vehicles are not permitted to pull onto the curbs or parking islands adjacent to any paved parking stall. All vehicle tires must remain on paved surfaces.
Tailgating is not permitted in the travel lanes on roads, parking lots or sidewalks. No tents, chairs, or other items may be placed or extend into travel lanes or sidewalks. Parking lot staff can ask patrons to move or relocate any equipment they deem to be disruptive. Failure to comply may result in removal from the parking lots, loss of future parking access, or fines.
