For my theme I went with an album of songs that were the first tracks on their original album. I tried to order them so there would be a flow, going back to the days of creating mix tapes.

1) Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones
2) Beyond Belief - Elvis Costello
3) Pulling Mussels - Squeeze
4) Search and Destroy - Iggy and The Stooges
5) Sunday Bloody Sunday - U2
6) Radio Free Europe - REM
7) Debaser - Pixies
8) Safe European Home - The Clash
9) I Will Dare - The Replacements
10) Baba O'Reilly - The Who

I'm a huge Metallica fan and joke with my wife that any decent song must be at least 6+ minutes long. So here's 2-hour album of way too long metal masterpieces.

1. One (Metallica)
2. A Sailor's Tale (Orbit Culture)
3. Chronos (Parkway Drive)
4. The Call of Ktulu (Metallica)
5. Strength of the World (Avenged Sevenfold)
6. The Phalanx (Trivium)
7. Redfog (Orbit Culture)
8. A Nightmare to Remember (Dream Theater)
9. Sleepwalk My Life Away (Metallica)
10. Cemetary Gates (Pantera)
11. Bury Me in Smoke (Down)
12. Buried Alive (Avenged Sevenfold)
13. Shogun (Trivium)
14. Black Rose Immortal (Opeth)
15. Master of Puppets (Metallica)

Master of Puppets is one of my all time favorites. It’s like 2-3 songs in one. Starts off heavy and fast, the middle is slower with awesome instrumentals, and finishes with a hammer.

I just want a playlist of B-list 90's bands that make you hear that song and it takes you back. Not the corney **** everyone knows. Like the low key solid ones that make you remember and appreciate how well that song/band has held up over time.

I really wouldn't know what to consider B-List, probably not some of these, but I'd say they are not bands with massive followings that hit the 90s for me.
- Blind Melon's "Change" and "Tones of Home"
- Fishbone's "Sunless Saturday"
- Dinosaur Jr. "Feel the Pain"
- Sponge's "Plowed"
- Cracker's "Low"
- Jesus Jones' "Right Here, Right Now"
- Helmet's "Exactly What you Wanted,' and "Unsung"
- Melvin's "Honey Bucket"

An album of covers*:

  • Purple Haze, The Cure
  • Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley
  • Little Red Corvette, The Gear Daddies
  • Crossroads, Rush (Lifeson’s solo shreds!)
  • Last Kiss, Pearl Jam
  • Twist and Shout, the Beatles
  • You Really Got Me, Van Halen
  • Smells Like Teen Spirit, Tori Amos
  • Hurt, Johnny Cash
  • Expressway To Your Heart, Blues Brothers
  • Istanbul (Not Constantinople), They Might Be Giants
  • (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, Devo
  • All Along the Watchtower, Jimi Hendrix
  • While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Regina Spektor
*Before you come at me, I'm not saying they're better than the original (Hallelujah excepted), just that, for the purpose of this thread, this would make an interesting album / playlist.

Edit: Bonus “hidden” track: Big Yellow Taxi, Counting Crows
