PS4 or XBox??

I've long thought PS4 was better for sports games and Xbox was better for everything else. Not sure why, but just my opinion. At your kids age, I'm not sure it would matter much

Depends on what you're looking for, but if you're buying for a family Gamepass is hard to beat on the Xbox You don't have to worry about buying a bunch of games right away. You'll have 100+ titles right off the bat. That's a ton of value. Let your kids choose what they want to play. They can try a game and if they don't like it, they download another one and you're out nothing.

In my opinion, PS4 has better exclusives.

This is what I would look at. If your son is into baseball, The Show is a crazy good game but is a PS4 only title. Take a look at what games are exclusive to what platform. That might help you make your decision.

It is funny...I like playing games but I don't have the time I used to have to play so I have to keep reminding myself that I am not really buying this for me...my kids are young...they don't need the best of the best at this point...they won't even know the difference. They just like to have fun playing games...and honestly that is where I am at...I will just enjoy playing some of the games they enjoy and being a part of it.

I’m in this boat also. My oldest (14) wants a gaming system. Initially I thought “no way”, but she’s a good kid, so I’m thinking about it. She likes Maddon and FIFA. For those types of games, assume PS4???

If you’re sticking with the EA Sports franchise I don’t think it matters which way you go. Madden and FIFA are on both systems.

I got what my kids friends had so they could play each other. Unless someone is serious about it. Get what the friends have and get them a headset, which are pretty cheap.

Anyone have the VR equipment for PS4? That looks cool...or is it gimmicky?

I do, it's pretty awesome honestly. Especially if you have a PS4Pro and give yourself time to get used to it. It's something that I demo for everyone who comes over and they are always blown away.

**** xbox

If you want your children to enjoy playing games, get an Xbox. If you want them to look down their nose at people and act like the above, get a PS4.

In all seriousness, I have always owned an Xbox simply because I cant stand the Playstation controller. Even on the latest generation it still feels awkward and cheap. The performance gap between the two is not nearly as exaggerated as PS4 users make it out to be, so do some research on the exclusives for each system and make a decision based on that.

I don't have Game Pass because I don't play a lot of video games, but it does seem like a fantastic way to appeal to many different tastes within a family.

Yeah I'll second this. It's definitely better on the pro and there are some great games, but at this point I think most people would be better off spending the money on an oculus quest. You can't play all the same game but it looks just as good or better, the tracking is much better and not having to worry about cords or a camera is great.

Own both and I am on the Xbox one way more. The controller is better, and way more comfortable using. The menu system is easier to use (to me at least). And as others have mentioned the game pass is a good deal ($10 a month I think?).

I see the game pass is on sale for $60 for the year right now? Maybe I am looking at the wrong pass...but that seems to be a good deal. I might be leaning toward XBox at this point...but I certainly may change my mind before I buy.

Yeah playstation fans are funny when you mention that the One X is more powerful then the Pro and costs less. And don't even mention the project Scorpio too them... I know of at least one who has made the switch after coming to the light

Ok, I'll be that guy. Neither. The Switch is better than either, especially for younger kids.

PS4 pro retails at $399, Xbox 1 X for $499. Black Friday PS4 pro was $299 and Xbox 1 x $350 so thats not really true.
