I get the whole being good stewards but in this case unless we are talking about more than it would just take to separately clean up the site the city and state need to step up. This isn’t a stadium proposal issue this is a hazardous site project.
Pretty sure the dico site clean up is done already, or paid for already at least. Maybe I'm wrong.

My understanding is it is capped but not cleaned up. Like it isn’t going to affect anything as is but it isn’t developable without additional extensive work.

Good news, I figured this was pretty much dead.
Wonder how long Krause will string this along, I'm sure he's trying to get as much public money as possible but dang you just sold Kum & Go for a billion or two...

I wasnt sure if they would keep going for it since they sold the Kum and Go portion of business. I am not sure what other things Krause does.

He still owns or runs the Krause+ development company in Des Moines which is what will develop the stadium. In the past they said they planned $500+ million in development around Des Moines, including the stadium, but not much has been done with that as far as I know. He also owns Parma FC in Italy in Serie A (highest level in Italy) and a winery there too.

I'm usually not a proponent of public dollars for sports stadiums, but I can be sold on the idea if the developer commits (legally) to a certain amount of other development, like mixed-use development, affordable housing, recreational amenities people can use every day, and things of that nature.

His Italian soccer team is back in Serie A. He can afford to pay for the stadium with his own money. Which is exactly what he is doing in Italy to remodel that venue.

Won't they most likely get incentives from the city for all of these other projects as well? I'm not totally against the idea of some public dollars but I'll be pissed when he calls it the Iowa Hawks Soccer Club and makes the club colors black and gold. Pretty sure he's an Iowa donor, he went there at least.

Rumor is Kyle was taking profits from K&G without funneling the cash through the proper waterfalls and sold before issues came up... This was done without blessing from the family, but used his legal power to make it happen.

It's no secret that Kyle's "other endeavors" pissed off several K&G family members and key decision makers...

Sounds like they got a good price though, and right before interest rates went crazy that would have dropped the valuation, especially on sale-leaseback transactions for new stores.

The stadium will sit on a superfund site where there is horrible environmental damages to the area from the previous user(s).. Public dollars on such a prominent location to DSM and Iowa make some sense, but Kyle and Krause + should have A LOT of skin in the deal

Come to Iowa where we hand millions to people who don’t need it while taking money away from those who do.

That is changing, not giving funds to the 4 largest counties by population. Legislator stated their efforts haven’t been going to rural counties. Maybe there might be other reasons for this, like laws passed by the legislature.
