If we have to rely on guys like Brackins, Garrett, etc next season; we could be in for a 3-4 year rebuilding job.
I think we were in for a 3-4 year rebuilding job when McD was hired. For one, the players that were leftover clearly are not fitting into the system or buying into it at all. The players that were brought in weren't highly recruited by anybody. In fact, I think only Wesley Johnson will be a starter in two years. That's rebuilding. Let's look at the starting lineups the next two years (and these are what I consider "probable" or "likely" obviously using a TON of inference here)
2007:
Garrett
Taylor (maybe)
Clark
Thompson
Brackins
(W. Johnson, Marsden, Hubalek, Dunson, Staiger getting big minutes, nice 9 man rotation)
2008:
Garrett
Staiger
W. Johnson
Thompson
Brackins
(Marsden, Boozer, Buckley, Eikmeier C. Johnson and Dunson getting big minutes. Again, nice 10 man rotation.)
In two years we'll be looking at one guy who is starting now to continue starting (W. Johnson) and three guys (Dunson, Marsden, C. Johnson) who are currently on the roster to log any minutes at all.
THAT'S REBUILDING.
