podcast recomendations

Stuff You Should Know is my wife and I's go-to on road trips

For homebrew stuff, I like the Sunday Session. It's really long and often focuses too much on California beer, but the guys are entertaining and they go over good stuff.

Thanks a lot guys, a lot of these I had heard of or been recommended. Just forgot about them. Nice to have a good list to check out when my queue is empty.

Some of my highlighted podcasts not yet mentioned:
Star Wars Minute
The Reformed Pubcast
The Art of Manliness

I'd like to second the mentions of these podcasts:
Cyclone Fanatic
Serial
Freakonomics Radio

- Judge John Hodgman: John Hodgman, comic, actor & author presides over people's trivial disputes in his fake court of internet justice

- The Flop House: This bad movie podcast features former Daily Show head writer Elliott Kalin, current Daily Show writer Dan McCoy, and their friend & bar owner Stuart Wellington, watching a recent bad movie, late at night, usually drunk.

- The Adventure Zone: If you listen to My Brother, My Brother & Me, it's the same family, The McElroy's with their father, Clint, playing Dungeons & Dragons. Funnier than it sounds.

- You Must Remember This: Film critic & historian Karina Longworth explores the hidden & forgotten history of Hollywood's first century. Highly recommend the season "Charles Manson's Hollywood", truly chilling recount of how Charles Manson & his "Family" crossed paths with stars like Beach Boys drummer Denis Wilson, Candace Bergen, Doris Day & Angela Lansbury before the infamous murders.

Bumb. Curious for any additional info. Heading to Canada this weekend to fish. So 30 plus hours of content.

I am podcast binge-ing on Undisclosed after finishing Serial season 1 (I followed Serial season 2 in real time, so had to catch up on season 1).

Also: Song Exploder, and 99% Invisible

The Jonah Keri Podcast (for my baseball fix)

The Verticle Podcasts and The Lowe Post for NBA fix

Nerdist Podcast to usually play in the background.

Also have So Money with Farnoosh Torabi, CBS This Morning, Tailgate Society, Outside Podcast, The Pursuit Zone, and Cyclone Fanatic.

Nerdist is pretty good, The Verticle podcasts are solid as well.

CrimeTown, just came out and it is a really, really good crime podcast. It is from the creators of "The Jinx" on HBO, and they do a terrific job of going into deep-detail to bring out amazing facts, the first season is based solely on Providence, RI and the mobs who have ran that town for years. Only 1 season is out, but I think it is one of the best podcasts' to come out this year.
Description: “Welcome to Crimetown, a new series from Gimlet Media and the creators of HBO’s ‘The Jinx.’ Every season, we’ll investigate the culture of crime in a different American city. First up: Providence, Rhode Island, where organized crime and corruption infected every aspect of public life. This is a story of alliances and betrayals, of heists and stings, of crooked cops and honest mobsters — a story where it’s hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Hosted by Marc Smerling and Zac Stuart-Pontier.”

I have also started to listen to Pardon My Take, because as much as I like sports sometimes hearing the satirical side of sports is fun for me as well. You have to take the hosts with a grain of salt at first, because their personas come off a bit brash at first, but once you realize they are being comical and everything they say isn't their actual opinions, it has become one of the funniest podcasts I listen to throughout the week. They are getting increasingly better guest as their popularity grows and I find the more serious interviews they do are some of the better ones. Not for everyone but I'd recommend people to at least give it a try.
