Pickup buying strategy

Daily driver , towing boat, enclosed trailer , hunting fishing out of state are needs . Don’t care what other people think . Only need a basic trim .
Ford F150 XL model for $33K. $30 cheaper than same truck in platinum, limited, or King Ranch Models.

Consider a "truxedo" roll-up cover for the bed, especially if you park outside or want to keep stuff in the bed or just want to be able to protect stuff while on the highway. Best $400 I've ever spent on an accessory.

I have one and I'm glad I got it.

I just bought my truck last year. My rule always was to find one a year or two old, and reap the cost savings. The used truck market was still so strong that the new one cost about the same.

If you can do one 4 or 5 years old, or perhaps the previous body style, then you'll see a significant saving.

From what you described, I would say an SUV would handle what you need. I didn't see any major hauling. The hunting and fishing gear would be better protected in the back hatch area than in a bed of a pickup.

One caveat with pickups is the use before you got them. I know other guys who beat the crap out of them by over hauling and pulling. Seen morons pull 400 bushels of corn with a 3/4 pickup. Wagon and grain is roughly 25000 pounds. You can't tell it when you buy it but the mechanical life are cut in half for some. If you buy used, definitely find out how it was used before.

Coyotes, geese, deer, antelope , racoons, ect dont smell that good in side of an SUV ;)
