Pick the winner Baylor vs. ISU

And of course the Hawkeyes sucked under Cummings (sp?). Love how the Hawks always think they have been the greatest. Well I know the truth.

Whoever thought the Hawkeyes would suck so bad at men's Basketball? Again, Lute Olson was the reason they went to the final four in 1980 but after Lute left they haven't been the sam. Little ol' Baylor would clean their clock in both football and basketball yet those Hawk fans would still be acting like they were the king of the world.

Hey, this guy's not so bad after all...

Talk like that will make you very popular around here despite your Baylor Homerism...

Grant Teaff, left. Ever since he quit coaching we've had nothing but a bunch of bad hires. IMO, it's all about coaching. I don't care what school it is. I remember ISU did very well under Earl Bruce. I believe ISU can compete in football just fine, they just need the right coach. Hopefully you have that with your new coach.

In the late 1980's and early 90's Texas was horrible. Nebraska sure isn't their old self and who ever thought Kansas would be winning in football!! Or Baylor in men's or women's basketball!!! I remember how horrible Colorado was in the 1970's They didn't really turn around until the Mid 1980's. And of course the Hawkeyes sucked under Cummings (sp?). Anyway, we beat No. 3 ranked USC (Sean Salisbury was QB) in 1985 in LA, we beat LSU in the Liberty Bowl that year pretty handily and we whacked UT in Austin 50-7 in 1989. We beat BYU in Waco in 1983 when Steve Young was QB. The next year BYU won the national title and they killed us in Provo in 1984.

My point is these things run in cycles. No one stays on top forever. Remember when Miami and Florida sucked in the 1970's too. Everyone forgets that, and of course Alabama seemed unbeatable for such a long time. They are on the rise again of course but they went through a long dry spell.
First let me say I had no idea Baylor was decent in the 80's. You never hear about that. And yes talk like that about EIU will make you VERY popular around here.

Much more than decent, actually very good. As Osoprimo said before many times BU finished the season ranked in the top 20. Starting in '74 with their 1st conference title in a long time thru '91 when BU started 5-0 and were ranked #8 in the nation to the last bowl season in '94 Baylor had some very good teams. Other good seasons not mentioned were '79-beat Clemson in the Peach Bowl, '80-SWC Champs (10-1)played Alabama in Cotton Bowl, '85-beat LSU in the Liberty Bowl, '86-beat Colorado in the Bluebonnet Bowl.

So pretty much Baylor was very good until the formation of the Big 12? Sorry for word choice of "decent." Again this is all new. Never even knew any of this happened.

No problem, it's all about what have you done lately. In Baylor's case it's squat. Here's to a good game this weekend.
Agreed I think it will be a good game. Personally, since I'm a Cyclone, I would love to see ISU have a huge game (I'm sure that you would like to see Baylor have a huge game too) Any other game though I would root for Baylor because they are in a similar situation to us.

all I can say is that I have definitely learned a lot about Baylor football. I have learned a lot on this thread, but I will still have to go with my clones. Track speed doesn't always translate into greatest football player ever so hopefully the the D can stay in front of him. Although I do remember someone named Tim Dwight who score a few Tds on us in the past...

Tim Dwight also had the advantage of playing against a junior high defense whenever he played us. We have a defense now. Big difference.

A lot of younger fans don't know our history, but that's to be expected. Especially when we were in the SWC and you in the Big 8 why would you even care about BU?

I can remember ISU beating Nebraska twice in the 1970's as I recall. Both were great games and Nebraska seemed so unbeatable back then.

I wish ISU great success in Football, just not against us.

I would agree, definitely upgraded since then, just remembering the last track star to have a good game against us.

The trouble with the Waco Triip/Baylor game is that ISU has NOT WON a road game in a coonsage!!

If I-State plays a first half like at UNLV...this game will be a blow out by halftime...the clones had better play lites out for 4 qtrs or they are gonna lose...Robert Griffin is the real deal!!

If he is then I guess he's good enough to beat ISU!

Must be a Hawk fan. I think that you all have enough to worry about without trying to be funny here.

That 8 win prediction is looking a lot tougher now, or were you one of those tools that thought you'd go 10-2, 11-1 and restore Iowa's place of dominance in the world of college football.

But, hey, you beat Iowa State, so good job.

Go Indiana!

I think ISU has had enough of losing close games our TEAM will come up big 28-14.

This is where you're forgetting that he only had a hand in 3 of their points. Brodell had a punt return for a TD and Christensen was the QB on their touchdown drive.

Back to the top at hand, I see track meet around 38-35 with either team coming out on top.

The Bears are much improved. ISU played very well last week. On paper, the game appears to go to the Bears in a close, high scoring game. The trip to Waco takes a while - I see it Baylor 42, ISU 32.
