Pet Peeves

People who complain about pet peeve threads when they have the choice to not read them.

I just searched for Pet Peeves, and this is the 4th thread in 12 days (if you count the golf one). Can we not revisit an old thread, or combine some instead of bringing up the same 3 pages of things that bother people?

I didn't start this one man!

Sorry to dig to dig this one up, but I had to add this small one to the list. Why does Adobe insist on adding an Adobe Acrobat shortcut to my desktop every freakin' time I have to update the program?? Has anybody in the history of the world ever used this shortcut to open an acrobat file?? At least most programs give you the option of letting you choose whether you want the shortcut or not, Adobe just assumes you do. Drives me nuts... along with cowboy butts...

My pet peeve (and #1 source of road rage):

People who CAN'T SETTLE ON ONE SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE!!!!!! I HATE it when somebody is riding my bumper (When I'm doing 80-85 anyway. I mean really, how much faster do you need to go?), I let them get around, and then they drop it down to 75. I go around them, and then repeat the cycle. Nothing p****s me off more.

I completely agree. I feel like that happens to me every single time I am on the interstate. It drives me crazy.

Habitual lane changers. You know what I'm talking about.....drivers who change lanes about 4 times for every 1 lane change I make, but still end up sitting right next to me at every light or right behind me at the exit ramp. When I see a habitual lane changer coming up behind me, I'll speed up and slow down next to the car in the other lane to see how many times I can get the habitual lane changer to change lanes.

Ooooh, I'm an annoying grammar person.

ATM = automated teller machine. You don't need to say "ATM machine," or "PIN number" ... etc.

Also, it's ORIENTED, not ORIENTATED. My blood boils!

Use the English language correctly, people!

On a different OCD note, I can't stand it when people don't erase the chalk or marker off a chalkboard or whiteboard completely and leave little letter remnants.

i couldn't agree more. i spend a lot of time on the road for work.

i'd like to add to this though:

-people who do not know how to use cruise control (ie. passing someone on the left and going only a half mile faster than the vehicle on the right)

And when people say "I could care less". If you're going to use that term, use it correctly. It's 'I couldn't care less".

For some reason this one has never bothered me. Maybe it is the sarcasm aspect (although "Tell me about it" bugs me) or maybe the slightly paradoxical feel of somebody taking the time tell me they could not care less. Well you cared enough to tell me you couldn't care less so maybe you really could have cared less.

One of my pet peeves is the use of "fewer" and "less". It doesn't have less calories - every calorie is the same. It has fewer calories.

Especially during bad road conditions. They are just prolonging the chance of an accident.

There are two groups of drivers on Iowa interstates. Either you're doing 60 or you're doing 80. So when I drive 74/75, I'm either driving way too fast for some or just slow enough for others.
