Parking Tonight!

I was afraid to open this. I thought it was some dating site.
I would guess, that since cy ride has moves the last couple years, it’s more so those folks still parked there that caused the overflow.
There is quite a bit of public parking outside the donor lots, if there is nothing else.
That being said, it might be because the game being at 6, there are still a lot of commuters parked in the lots. Especially if you get to the game early.
That would just be my guess. I know they moved the commuters to the northeast lots at least as far as I know. My Daughter uses Lot D1/D3 whichever it is numbered now, when she goes and she has a couple night classes, so commuters overlap donor lots. Seems that the commuters would be better down where they used to be on south west side of the lots, where there are games in Hilton during the week.
The earlier tip times on weekdays are a pain in the butt because of commuter parking overlapping with event parking.
Lots of commuters parking in the C lots for classes, and they were still there when fans started showing up for the game. Same thing happened during the kids game earlier this year that started at 11:00. We got down to Hilton a little after 4:30 and got into the D lot, but it was filling up even that early tonight.
Parking sucks regardless, my parents are dropping a donation level cuz the lot we park in sucks to get out of and they only move a section over in Hilton. Better off getting out of there in public after the restructuring.
I have season tickets for MBB and honestly parking anywhere other than the lots near Hilton even with the further walk to your car is the fastest way to get out even with the extra walk in the cold. Just like football, the staff that oversees parking can't keep things flowing for some reason. Those of us here that don't have parking passes for BB probably know by now all the places in the area around Hilton you can park and get out of Ames quickly if you don't mind a bit of a walk in the cold.
We go to a few WBB games because our kids have Junior Cyclone Club memberships and park in GA lots and for the more popular games it is a mess getting out if you park in one of the lots closest to Hilton. I joke if we park where I do for MBB we'd be halfway home by the time we get out of the lots we park GA for WBB as bad as they are directing traffic after a game.

What bothered me about the parking is that the side exits both had the gates closed and locked, eliminating two routes to get out. There were people who ended up using the sidewalk along the fence on the east side of the McFarland building to get onto the street (so we went with that instead of sitting another 20 minutes for vehicles to begin moving). Zero reason for those access points to be closed during a major event.
