Only 3 episodes in, and I'm really trying to like it, it's pretty good, but something about it just hasn't made me want to binge watch it yet. Started out pretty fast in episode 1 and caught my attention, but now it's gotten a bit boring IMO.

This is what happened to me. I liked how it started out, but around episode 6 or so, I felt like they were dragging their feet to set up a cliffhanger. It's probably because the 1st episode had so much in it that they kind of ran out of story to tell without giving away the last episode. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it were 6 episodes, some of the last half really seemed to drag. They just didn't develop the story enough for 10 episodes, imo.

Maybe they are saving it for season 2, but I also feel like they could have done a lot more backstory on all the main characters. I really just look at them as bad people out for their own gain, so I don't have compassion for them.

Some have compared it to Breaking Bad, it has similarities, but what it is lacking, imo, is the ability to look at the main character, who is doing bad stuff, still as the hero. I'm kind of rooting for the FBI in this one, at least so far.

It's good, I'll watch season 2 because, let's face it, it's better than almost anything on network TV. It just doesn't have that reach out and grab you feel that Breaking Bad had.

Agree. I just don't have any feelings really one way or another for anyone in this story so far. The main character didn't really have any reason to get into the drug game, he already had a good job, etc... correct?

The thing with Breaking Bad is that you had compassion for the situation Walter White was in at the beginning, and could almost understand how he ended up going down the path he did. Even though what he did was completely wrong, you still kinda pulled for him for some reason.

I don't have any feelings either way for anyone in this OZARK show.

Not one of Jason Bateman's funnier roles. I watched the whole season and liked it. I did my best not to compare it to Breaking Bad, since it couldn't hold up. Like others have stated, I didn't find myself feeling empathy for any of the characters. But I thought they did a good job of building up the suspense, and I was never sure which way the story would turn. I'm looking forward to season 2.

I agree with all of this. I thought Ozark was pretty interesting but it is a cheap knock-off of Breaking Bad. BB was a show that moved deliberately and really gave you reasons to care about the characters and understand their motivations. Ozark just throws you straight in and the characters are just a means to the action. But it's still pretty interesting and I will probably watch season 2.

i binged it and loved it. Jason Bateman is one of those actors that I will watch everything they're in. The only issue I have is the shots of the lake...not realistic. Their is a lot of woods and I hear many things go on there.
Really good show.

I really like the show. It honestly gives me a lot of flashbacks to my younger days spending summers in the Ozarks, the dilapidated dock business, the old motel. Both sets of my grandparents retired in the Ozarks and I spent my summers there. The show isn't far off. The northwest side has changed quite a bit because of branson, but the southwest side (arkansas way) is a LOT like the show. Where my GPs lived, you had to go into Arkansas to get to them, even though they had a missouri address. Its well known that a lot of people that want to live off the grid move down there. There are a lot of abandoned homes, mobile homes, and campers there. I know 1st hand, I went down there last year, and there are trees growing in my grandparents old place, and there was a odd leanto built onto the back of it with smoke coming out of a pipe on the roof.

Unfortunately it wasn't filmed at the Lake of the Ozarks. That's what bugged me about the few episodes I've watched so far. It's not a very good representation of the LOTO.

If it's reminding you of anything it's a Lake in Georgia outside Atlanta.

The preacher character Mason Young was in my Cedar Falls High School graduating class of 1997. His name is Michael Mosley. He is Iowa born (Iowa City unfortunately). He was class president and homecoming king. I think he was an eagle scout too. Might as well make him a Saint at this point. Nice guy was my best recollection actually.

No Marty was already laundering money back in Chicago for the cartel. What he didn't know was his partner was skimming.

Yeah that was a little weird seeing Del get his head blown off. I like anything with Jason Bateman so I found this series pretty entertaining.

Agree, great show. Linney has always been one of the best in the business and she's superb in this along with Bateman. And it's very cool to see Esai Morales again. Don't think I've seen him since 'Bad Boys'... the GOOD 'Bad Boys' with Sean Penn.

No kidding the Del scene was the most Ive jumped in awhile. Those hillbillies are going to be in a world of hurt, plus the woman that took off with millions. I'm just talking myself into wanting to see season 2 like right now lol.
